Conception

When's the best time to get pregnant? Use our interactive ovulation calculator to work out when you're most fertile and most likely to conceive.

How do I know I'm ovulating after coming off the pill?

Hi everyone
Myself and my partner are now TTC. I came off cerazette beginning of March and have still not had a bleed (period had stopped for 6 years - I realise it can take a while but I'm getting impatient lol).
Sorry if I sound thick but I have no idea (this will be our first child), if I use ovulation tests would they work?
I'm worried if I get pregnant without having had withdrawal bleed and a first 'proper' period we may not get a very accurate due date etc.
Has anyone else been in this situation, what did you do?
Thanks so much for your answers in advance Grin

I check my cervical mucus to see if it’s reached an egg white consistency. Once it does, that suggests you’re fertile. Cycle 2 off the pill so not conceived yet but don’t want to get too focused on the sticks just yet!

Just because you haven’t had a withdrawal bleed doesn’t mean you can’t get pregnant, so don’t let it stop you trying! My understanding is that ultrasounds are very advanced nowadays and will be pretty accurate at dating you :) if you know roughly when you ovulate (whether it’s sticks or CM) then that will help date you (they’ll add 2 weeks on before that and then calculate 40 weeks from that date)

Hope some of this helps, I came off cerazette in February and it’s definitely an adjustment lol

Hi @Sarahlouaxox Don't worry, I didn't have a withdrawl bleed when I stop cerzaette. I took my last pill on Dec 30 and did not get any bleed until Feb 14. Since then I have used ovulation tests which I have had a positive each month around CD16. Ovulation then being confirmed with tracking my basal Temp each morning.

I have just finished my 3rd cycle since stopping the pill and still no BFP, but I know it can take quite a few cycles first! Just give your body time and your first AF will appear and that way you can get on with testing. But I would highly advise getting yourself a BBT. Good Luck x
