So I had the implant in for 3 years and it was due to be taken out. Me and my other half have decided that after being together 10 years, travelling to 12 countries together, ticking off our 4 top places to go (Jamaica, Thailand, Maldives and India). I wouldn't be going back on to contraceptive and at 26 a baby completed our life more than a wedding. Last year we bought a 4 bedroomed house and did it up to exactly what we wanted. Me and my other half decided that we would use condoms as a contraception until September then begin trying.. So 2 weeks ago I went to the doctors to get my implant taken out and to my surprise I'm bloody pregnant! I have so many questions like how? When? But I am. So a little earlier then planned but the best gift I have ever been given. Has any body else got any surprise pregnancy whilst being on contraception. How do I tell my family!

I got pregnant when I was 19, I’d been with my (first ever!) boyfriend for 8 weeks and we worked out we had conceived the first time we had had sex together (first time ever for me). I found out because I went to get the contraceptive injection, having not been sexually active previously I wasn’t on the pill or anything so we had only been using a condom. So DS was very much unplanned but has been the best thing to ever happen to us. We also now have a 4 month old DD who was planned 😁
With regard to telling your family, just announce it when you’re ready as you would have done if it had happened a bit later and in the way you planned. I was terrified that my dad would be disappointed in me (he had me 6 weeks before his 18th birthday) but he was so so supportive, I cried all over him, mostly with relief!
I’m sure they will all be very happy and excited for you.
Congratulations! And best of luck with your pregnancy xx

Congratulations on your pregnancy! I'm in a very similar position to you - DH and I decided we should try for a baby ASAP and on coming back from holiday I started taking folic acid everyday - we said we'd try in 12 weeks time :)... well it's a good thing I started taking folic acid because I found out yesterday I came back from holiday pregnant & we are excited!

Also wondering how we will tell family! Quite enjoying this little secret of ours!
