TTC#1 and have period-like pains

Hi, first time poster here! I’m TTC #1, on cycle #1 after coming off the combined pill (which I was on for 14 years!) I think is too early to test (period is due a week today), so was going to wait at least a few days. Feeling a bit strange, slightly nauseous, very bloated, needing to wee a lot and also have period-like pains, which I’ve had for a couple of days. I’m a bit concerned though, as the cramps have now started to feel almost as though I’m sore on the inside! Has anyone else experienced this? Might not be pregnancy but never felt like this before...

Your body can do all kinds of weird stuff for a few months after coming off the pill. It's too early for pregnancy symptoms so try not to get your hopes up or read too much into it.

ClosetFashionista · 09/04/2018 21:51

Thanks Oysterbabe. I think I’m just over thinking things. Could it be implantation pains, though?

Very highly unlikely it’s implantation pains. Pretty much every single person that comes off birth control to start ttc has weird symptoms. Cramps, nausea, sore boobs etc. It’s extremely common, if somewhat annoying

ClosetFashionista · 09/04/2018 22:32

Yep, these symptoms certainly are annoying! Thanks for your reply.

I felt more pregnant the month I came off the pill, when I wasn't actually pregnant than the following cycle when I actually did become pregnant!

I had slightly sore boobs, period-type pains on and off, was very bloated and sensitive to tastes and smells. Might have been hormone withdrawal symptoms or may have been psychological.

I did have period pains for a few days before my period was due when I got pregnant though. I would test in a few days if the symptoms haven't subsided. It's not unheard of to get pregnant straight away, and ovulation can be all over the place so you might not be due when you think you are.

ClosetFashionista · 10/04/2018 08:27

Thanks KnitKitty, will wait and see if AF arrives and will test if not. Fingers crossed.

@ClosetFashionista
I’ve been having the same feelings... had cramps waking me up, but no af I’m now around 4 days late, haven’t tested this week though, it’s always a possibility to be pregnant some people fall pregnant straight after stopping the pill - good luck x

ClosetFashionista · 10/04/2018 09:14

@Rose2887
Thank you, I hope so. Good luck to you too! When are you going to test?

@ClosetFashionista I think this afternoon, quite hard buying hpt with a 9year dd 😂 xxx

ClosetFashionista · 10/04/2018 09:18

Finally got a frer and got a faint line :)

@ClosetFashionista how are you?

Rose2887 · 16/04/2018 12:55

@ClosetFashionista ps I’ve fallen pregnant straight off the pill.. the first month! Xx

ClosetFashionista · 16/04/2018 17:26

@Rose2887 congratulations! Well done you!
No such luck for me I’m afraid, AF arrived on Saturday, but lasted for less than 48 hours! Bit odd but I suppose it’s my body getting used to coming off the pill.
You could be in line for a Christmas baby then?!

Rose2887 · 16/04/2018 18:35

@ClosetFashionista
I had this.. it’s a withdrawal bleed!!! Maybe implantation???? Good luck anyway :). X

Glera · 16/04/2018 20:11

@closetfashionista

I’m sorry AF arrived. I just wanted to say that my first period after the pill was probably the worst. One because I think of the change in hormones and two, because I had such high expectations and didn’t know what to expect with regards to TTC. I think it too me two proper cycles before I started to ovulate so try not to put a downer on yourself to begin with...it could be you don’t actually ovulate for a cycle or two.

I also found my “symptoms” before the first cycle were the worse too, but again, I think that’s because I was in hormone overdrive and had such high hopes.

I wish you lots of luck on your journey of TTC.

ClosetFashionista · 16/04/2018 20:28

@Rose2887 Oh, really? I had my normal pill withdrawal bleed when I stopped taking it a month ago, so just assumed, because it was 26 days ago, that this must be my period... maybe not then! It’s very confusing!
@Glera thank you. Did you manage to conceive after coming off? If so, how long did it take? Thanks for your nice words. I felt a bit flat on Saturday when I realised it hadn’t worked this cycle (mainly because, crazily, I had convinced myself that it was actually a lovely, magical thing to have a Christmas baby - due date would have been Xmas Eve), but I know it’s only the first cycle so chances were relatively slim anyway. What made it both better and worse at the same time was finding out on the same day that my best friend is pregnant! Bittersweet, as I’m sure most people can relate to.

@ClosetFashionista
Well the dates say 26th of December but I’m hoping January as we are now saving for a deposit on our first home and I need to be working as much as possible so we will see! My birthday is in January too!
I’m sure everything will work out for you soon, keep me updated Xxx

ClosetFashionista · 17/04/2018 12:43

@Rose2887
Mine is January too; busy time of year!!
Ooh good luck with the house, sounds like you have lots of excitement coming your way 😊😊😊

Best month for birthdays I guess Grin Done another frer, it’s loads darker now which is good!!! I’m going to keep everything crossed for you xx

MyDcAreMarvel · 17/04/2018 13:12

I bleed for 48 hours the day before my period was due. Three days later I took a test because I just had a feeling and it was positive.

MyDcAreMarvel · 17/04/2018 13:13

Rose a December birthday will save a terms 15/30 hours in childcare Grin

Rose2887 · 17/04/2018 13:55

@MyDcAreMarvel will it?? Is that a cut off point?? I didn’t know all this lol xx

MyDcAreMarvel · 17/04/2018 15:31

Yes the funding is term after third birthday, so 31st August, 31st December and 31st March are the cut off dates. Can make a big difference, especially with the new 30 rather than 15 hour funding.

MrsBrown28 · 17/04/2018 15:42

@closetfashionista This is my first month off the pill and I feel exactly the same. I haven’t had AF yet feel sicky and cramps but nothing is coming of them. It’s so annoying and confusing.

ClosetFashionista · 17/04/2018 15:44

Thanks @Rose2887, I’m crossing my fingers too that it’s implantation bleeding. I’ve read to wait a week then test again, so will do one Saturday morning. I’m tempted to do one now, but have used 3 tests this cycle already and don’t want to waste one only to be disappointed!
@MyDcAreMarvel had you just come off the pill too? It’s confusing as I had my normal withdrawal bleed straight after stopping the pack, which lasted 5 days as usual. Then this 2 day light bleed just before my period was due. That’s only based on a 28 day cycle because that’s what I was before the pill, though, as obviously couldn’t average out my cycles more recently, as have been on the pill for years!
Our bodies are so confusing!
