Hi, Im wondering if anyone has ever had that mettalic taste symtom and what its like.

Im on cd29 of an irregular cycle and yesterday and today i've had brown spotting and a metallic taste in my mouth, kinda like how you'd imagine old coins to taste. I've also had mild cramping but no other symtoms

I know I'm probally being silly but if anyone's had these symtoms with or without a bfp i'd love to hear from you.
Thanks

The metallic taste, tastes a bit like having blood in your mouth. I seem to have had it every month just bfore af is due.

quokka · 11/05/2007 15:46

well it was right from the beginning until the end. I would try everything to get the taste out of my mouth and I can't remember anything working. It did get more bearable after the first 3 months but I remember drinking water was really horrible so used to drink cranberry juice? Are you pregnant? Have you done a test yet?

sorry those letters and numbers don't mean much to me. I have irregular periods so never knew when I was ovulating or about to come on, it didn't really bother me to find out. So we just had unprotected sex while trying iykwim?

Thanks your replies,
I haven't done a pregnancy test because i know it'l be negative,(it has been for the last two years )
Because my cycles can be anything upto 45 days i didn't even think i'd have ovulated yet, but yesterday this light spotting started, and a funny tingly metal taste on my tongue.
I know im just symtom spotting, but as my periods are so irregular this could have been a shorter cycle and i may have ov sooner, I did have ewcm cd 15 to cd18, but neg opk result
Sorry to go on I know it'l come to nothing anyway. Thanks for your help

You've been ttc for two years?. Have you not had a referral to a gynae - it is likely that there is a problem with either one or both of you.

I would ask your GP to refer you to a gynae asap if he has not already done so.

If you have a blood test done or have had one there is a caveat. In this regard LH (luteinising hormone) and FSH (follicle stimulation hormone) levels need to be carefully compared against one another (in other words not just looked at as separate items). If your LH and FSH levels are not the same this would be a strong indicator as to why your periods are irreguler.

Such problems are often caused by hormonal imbalances - polycystic ovaries or its related syndrome called PCOS are common culprits.

Irregular cycles are often anovulatory ones so it is better to seek medical advice sooner than later. OPK's as well are a waste of time to use if cycles are irregular and can also give a misleading result. They are misleading as they measure LH - not all women have one rise in LH every month and not all rises are immediately followed by ovulation.

Spotting between periods ought to be checked as well to establish the cause - its often not serious.

I'm under the care of a fertility specialist, got my 2nd app in june.
Blood tests say I ovulate sometimes but not always and a hsg said my tubes were fine, so I never know if i may get lucky.

Just feeling stupidly optimistic that this spotting is a good sign, but it's probaly nothing, do you know anything about spotting/implantation bleeding? Can you get it when it isn't implantation?

Am glad that you're under the care of a gynae - how often are you being seen?. You ought to be seen monthly at the very least. If you are not seen that regularly I would ask awkward questions as to why.

Do you have a diagnosis at all?. Do they think that PCO/PCOS are issues?.

Glad to read the HSG showed a clear result.

Spotting between periods can be a sign of cervical erosion (a common and not serious problem) - would mention any spotting episodes to the gynae on your next appointment.
Do not know a great deal about implantation bleedings but have read in the past they are not commonplace.

I get that metallic taste very often, reliably when pregnant, but also when I had the Mirena, and now for the last two weeks of every cycle. We've been ttc for nearly 4 years.
