Lubrication - does it reduce chances of getting pg? What brand should I buy, trying to get pg?

I seem to remember something about this? (possibly why we didn't conceive last month?)

But I can't remember the specifics. Has anyone done any recent research.

What brands of lubrication would you recommend for ttc?

Yep there's something about the silicones in normal lube. Ideally you need fertility lube but it is ££££. We used conceive plus and it worked first time. It's not particually pleasant stuff though!

Thanks!
Have just checked out amazon.

It seems some boxes have a few individual tubes (presumably for one off use) and others have one big tube (for using on multiple occasions) if that makes sense?

Just wondering if you know pros/cons/reasons for this? Why would I buy one box with lots of little tubes, over one big tube?

I think it only lasts about 3 months after opening. It comes with applicators and you screw the applicator onto the tube and squeeze the lube into the applicator, so you don't actually touch the lube at all. I think it's because it has no preservatives so can quite easily go off. Your not supposed to reuse the applicators. It should tell you how many applications and then you can work out what you need.
I think we only used it about 4 times, but we caught first month. We only used it when I was ovulating not all the time.

Just had a look and sorry it was actually pre-seed we used, but it's the same kind of stuff!

DaisyMay25 · 09/04/2018 11:32

@mammyoftwo I've just purchased conceive plus off amazon which I'll be starting to use this cycle. I purchased both the applicators and lube. The applicators are to be applied up to 15 minutes before dtd and the lube during. I think amazon have a deal on them, it suggested buying both too for best results.

I used pre-seed during FW the 3rd month of TTC. I’m now 6 weeks pregnant. No idea if it was the lube or something else but it’s worth a try!

mammyoftwo · 09/04/2018 11:42

Stupid question time.................
I've read the descriptions and watched the product video, but I'm still not sure exactly how this works....................

what/where do I put the applicator? Blush
I presume I put the contents of the tube (lubrication) onto the applicator?

Sorry for being thick

We use conceive plus. These lubes won't help you get pregnant but they are just a friendlier environment for the sperm to stay alive in.

I wouldn't bother with any applicators, we just got the big tube and it's great! Very easy - just apply like any other lube and have fun ;)

Ta!

@mammyoftwo for preseed you screw the applicator onto the tube, squeeze in the lube, then unscrew the applicator and insert it a bit like a tampon into your vagina and push the applicator to leave the lube deep inside. I think the idea of preseed is that it mimics cervical mucus so putting it as close as possible to the cervix is the idea! I think it does say on the packet you can use it like normal lube too. Have fun!

JimmyPestoJunior · 10/04/2018 15:42

We used Preseed but like @BubblesPls we didn't bother with the applicators and just applied it like a normal lube. No idea if it helped or not but I got a BFP our second month of using it. I'm now 5 weeks pregnant.

Hengine · 11/04/2018 15:57

I used Tesco’s own fertility lube and just used it like normal. It came in small one-use tubes.

Hengine · 11/04/2018 16:11

Just adding that it was much cheaper!

Help201602 · 11/04/2018 16:32

It’s crazy the lengths I would be prepared to go to get a bfp. We used conceive plus for first time this month, during fertile window, I’m on cycle 7. Waiting to see if any joy this month. (I even inserted it without my partner knowing one night as he’s not keen on it)

Catscakeandchocolate · 11/04/2018 21:46

I used conceive plus. We had been trying for 14 months and I fell pregnant that month. Could have been coincidence of course but it worked for me

Foamybanana93 · 12/04/2018 19:22

Me and my partner used concieve plus for the first time and ended up pregnant after 3 years of trying but unfortunately had an early mc at 6 weeks and 3 days, don’t know if it was coincidence or not that got pregnant after using it but going to be using concieve plus again next month when we try again 😌

Eeeeek2 · 13/04/2018 10:48

I used yessss baby after trying for 9 months and pregnant the first month using it

Second time it took 2 cycles again with yessss baby (unfortunately ended in miscarriage)

Then I couldn't find any of yesss baby so tried for 8 months using nothing. 1 cycle with pre-seeed and I'm pregnant again.

I don't think it really helps but we like using lube and regular stuff gets in the way of getting pregnant.
