Hi all,

I have one DS and when I found out I was pregnant with him I had some light brown spotting for a few days.
My DH and I started trying for a baby mid March and I have now had brown spotting again but it’s been for 4-5 days now. Would you class that as a period or spotting? Has anyone else had this and been pregnant?

Obviously I know I should take a test but I’m not able to until Monday now and I just wanted some advice!

Thank you in advance.

I had spotting for 4-5 days just before I was expecting my period which was unusual for me so I got an early pregnancy test. It came back negative and then I started bleeding heavier, so I presumed my normal period had caught up and was in full swing. Turns out I was actually pregnant so I don't know if the spotting/bleeding was implantation bleeding or if I was one of those women who had a period whilst pregnant. But from my experience I would say it was absolutely possible to bleed and still be pregnant.

if you were using hormonal contraception prior to starting ttc then that seems totally normal to me. It’s not really a sign of pregnancy but could be your body readjusting, missed ovulation, there’s a number of reason why you could be spotting. If your period is due, then it is most likely old blood coming out ready for new lining to be shed. Obviously the only way to know for sure is to persevere and if your period is late, take a test
