BFP still 3 weeks after MC

Hi Mumsnet!

My 2nd MC started on 13/04 and carried on until 23/04, including 3 days of just spotting. I think I was around 5/6 weeks but as I have irregular cycles I can't be certain. I started bleeding on day 48, three days after my BFP.

After 8 days of bleeding I still had a BFP, which was different to my 1st MC at 5 weeks where I had a BFN before I started bleeding. I saw my GP and she said to retest in a week, which I did and I got a BFN

Yesterday I just got a feeling and retested and found a very faint BFP. I saw my GP again and she advised that hormone levels take a while to settle and to just carry on as normal and retest weekly.

I guess I'm asking if anyone has had a familiar experience? I feel uncomfortable with these bfps and I just want it to be over. I've also got a nagging feeling I could be pregnant again.. but that's not possible if I only stopped spotting ten days ago, is it?

Be very careful it's not an ectopic pregnancy - this is what happened to me. Call your GP or local EPU about your worries. Particularly if you have pain in one side - it can be fatal.

Sorry for your loss x

My GP was kind but dismissive this morning, she didn't really look at the test I brought. I think she saw me as desperate and hysterical and was trying to contain me

I look a cb digital hoping it would reassure me but it said 1-2 weeks pregnant. This is clearly not right so I'M off to epu

It could be retained product. Definitely not right. You're doing right to be seen.

The midwife at EPU wasn't too fazed but at least she took me seriously. They took bloods and will call and tell me what the next step is tomorrow.

She said that it's not unusual to have a bfp 10 days after a mc, whuch surpised me

@SerenaOverjoyed I'm 11 weeks since my MC (natural management and no complications) and I still get positive on a FRER. EPU will monitor bloods to make sure they're dropping but it can take time even after you finish bleeding. I hope you're doing ok. It's horrible being in the limbo period.

It really depends how high your bhcg was to start. My pregnancy test stayed positive for several weeks after an ERPC. Thinking of you

I had a MMC and after failed medical management 2.5 weeks after scan revealed all not was well I had a surgical procedure. They sent me home with a pregnancy test to do 3 weeks afterwards so I would guess that 10 days may still be too soon. Hope all turns out OK x

Thanks for the support. Perhaps it is a little early, I think as my hcg dropped so rapidly last time I was expecting the same

My HCG is 36 and progesterone 14, so I need new bloods on Monday. Midwife said that my hcg should be 2000+ so it's just to confirm what we already know.

At least my progesterone is ok, I was concerned that I was miscarrying dur to low progesterone. So much for dr google..

Confused Bit disturbed to find my bfp stronger today. Has this happened to anyone? Is there an explanation that isn't a new pregnancy? I bled very heavily for 10 days and passed (sorry tmi) clots and things that looked like tissue. I stopped bleeding 17 days ago

EPU bloods will come back tomorrow I just feel very Hmm about it all. I'm not sure what I want the news to be.

Someone I know had a miscarriage but ended up pregnant after and they thought it might have been a twin pregnancy originally, it's very rare so I don't want to get your hopes up

MrsBrown28 · 11/04/2018 02:47

I had a misscarriage July 4 and August 4 was pregnant with my son. Hope you get the answer you want x
