Could I Be Upduffed?

DH and I had sex on thursday night. I’m not on the pill but we use condoms. Sorry for TMI, but the condom moved a bit during sex and we didn’t notice until DH pulled out and there’s a chance it leaked out of the top and onto me. I don’t think it did and if it did it was very very minimal amounts.

Anyway, I seemed to think at the time we were outside my fertile window (I track with Ovia) but when I checked today we were actually slap bang in the middle of it Blush

A baby wouldn’t be a disaster, we will be starting to try for one in the next couple of years anyway but as I’ve never been in this position before (never had sex that could result in a pregnancy) I don’t know if there’s a realistic chance I’m pregnant?

If so I won’t know for a couple of weeks, can a tiny bit of semen do the job?

I’m a bit freaked out Sad

Also, if you’ve had a baby what were your earliest symptoms and when did they appear?

i really doubt it

TroubledLichen · 02/04/2018 03:12

Very unlikely but if you have a slip up again, and don’t want a baby right now then if you’re in the UK it’s super easy to get hold of emergency contraception. So maybe try the Boots pharmacy if there’s a next time. And you can take first response pregnancy test from a few days before your period is due.

Graphista · 02/04/2018 04:12

Get emergency contraception if you don't want a pregnancy.

Even WITH completely correct use there's a failure rate.

You say not much semen involved but do you KNOW how tiny a sperm is? And it just takes one.

First time I fell pregnant I was correctly taking pill.

I was struck by this comment

"Never had sex that could result in a pregnancy"

Do you understand that EVERY time you have piv sex, even using contraception can result in pregnancy?

HidCat · 02/04/2018 08:22

As @Graphista said, it's always possible. Friend of mine had an accident like this and ended up with twins so I would get testing with one of the early response test in about a week. FRER is one of the better ones but I think Superdrug and Boots both do their own versions and there's loads of different types on Amazon.

Hughpughbarneymagrew · 02/04/2018 08:30

It's not all that likely, although certainly possible. I think I remember the statistic I've seen is that a fertile couple having regular sex during the woman's fertile period have roughly a 1 in 3 chance of getting pregnant each month.
Get emergency contraception if you know you don't want to be pregnant now.

helloworld88 · 02/04/2018 08:38

Isn't it a bit late for emergency contraception now? Have to take it within 72 hours?

As the others say it is possible but try to not worry as for most couple it takes many months of trying so hopefully this time you haven't caught

Thanks folks.

Sorry I didn’t phrase my OP well. What I meant was we’ve never had a contraception fail. I had the implant and no periods until last year and then we’ve used condoms religiously since and never had any leakage etc. This is the first time contraception has failed us if that makes more sense.

Glad it’s unlikely as I thought. We talked about the MAP but DH and I both agreed we’d be over the moon to be parents and we’re in a good situation so decided if it happened it happened. At the time i thought I was outside my window anyway.

We own our house, both have jobs (although mine if fairly new so that’s why the original plan is to wait a couple of years) and we’ve been together 10 years since I was 17 (and married for a year) so it wouldn’t be a disaster, we realise we’re in a much better position than a lot of people when they accidentally fall pregnant so if it happens we’ll be happy.

DH has said he wants to start trying a bit sooner now because this has shown him how much he wants a baby, not convinced on that one personally!

helloworld you can use ellaOne brand MAP up to 5 days later, or have an IUD fitted up to 5 days later.
