I was due AF on 17th March - day 30. Cycle had felt normal, EWCM at the right time along with increased sex drive. Had unprotected sex around what should have been fertile window.

Day 32 had a very, very minor amount of red-brown discharge. Not proper AF blood and by the time I had noticed and changed my knickers it had stopped.

Day 34 I had a tiny amount of brown discharge and again on Day 35.

Nothing since. I get occasional cramps like I think it is going to happen but then nothing. It is now Day 45.

Yesterday I had lots of cramping for a few hours as I would expect when beginning AF but nothing except a lot of white, wet discharge.

I have taken about 20 pregnancy tests of different brands since about Day 28. Absolutely nothing. Definitely not pregnant and no symptoms, not feeling sick or sore boobs or anything.

My last cycle was a few days longer than it should have been. The only thing that was different was I was taking Pregnacare Pre Conception vitamins.

Google says the B6 in them can elongate cycles and anecdotally there are lots of women posting to say it increased their cycles. I stopped taking them a few weeks ago - I'm just taking folic acid and vit d now - but still nothing.

My GP says they cannot have affected cycle length, but I don't know what else it could be.

Anyone experienced anything like this? Or know what could be happening? When I am likely to next bleed? I have been trying to ignore it but it is starting to worry me, especially because we are meant to be trying for a baby and I don't know how to track my cycle etc.

Feeling sad that I messed up my previously perfectly regular cycle and I don't even 100% know why :(

Sometimes you just get a weird cycle. It's pretty normal for this to happen once in awhile. I've seen other people report a similar issue with pregnacare over the last few years (I've been at this game A LONG time). A late period is generally caused by a delay in ovulation. Or you might have not ovulated this cycle, which again is super normal every once in awhile.

Have you come off hormonal birth control in the last year? That could be an explanation, but so could late ov be. I would expect your af to start in the next couple of weeks.

JustLikeTheySaid · 31/03/2018 16:27

Thanks for your reply Flowers

I came off the pill almost exactly a year ago. For about 3 months I didn't think I ovulated (No EWCM) but since about September it has all been regular as clockwork.

And then this. I feel totally sure it has to be the pregnacare tablets.

If you don't ovulate do you just skip a period altogether?

I took an ovulation stick today and the line was there but fainter than the test line so that's meant to be negative. If I was having a normal cycle I would be due to ovulate in the next few days. So I think I will track with these sticks for a bit and see.

Feeling so sad that I've pushed back our chances at conceiving because I didn't research those tablets properly :(

I’m currently ten days late, definitely not pregnant based on the multiple tests I have done. Plenty of cramping, headaches etc like I’m going to come on.

JustLikeTheySaid · 31/03/2018 17:35

You and I are just the same then!

Tink2007 · 31/03/2018 17:40

It’s annoying me now. I’ve gone from sheer panic to rational, sheer panic to just annoyed.

I just want it to come and be done with now. I’ve been so stressed this month so putting it down to that.

JustLikeTheySaid · 31/03/2018 17:45

I am the same, now I'm mostly just frustrated and want it to hurry up and get here!

I have soothed myself today by thinking I can track LH on the ovulation sticks. Hopefully if it increases then that can only be a good sign.

Stress can definitely do it! I've really noticed changes to my cycle when stressed.
I have been using the pregnacare and it's not made any difference to my cycle.

Tink2007 · 31/03/2018 17:48

We aren’t trying so I think I am getting stressed about not coming on on top of the stress I have already had. I need to chill out! Lol.

Good luck to your ladies trying ✨✨

JustLikeTheySaid · 31/03/2018 17:52

I'm not at all stressed (And hsve been significantly more stressed in previous months with no ill effects on my cycle) So who knows?!

Oh it's such a hard process. I just want a positive pregnancy test so badly!

My cycles were always clockwork 28 days and they have randomly become irregular since I turned 30. Nothing else has changed but the doctor said sometimes the older we get the less regular we’ll be. My cycle was only 24 days this month, 35 days last month and 29 days the month before. I used to always know when I was coming on my period so I’m finding it all really annoying now

Tink2007 · 31/03/2018 18:01

Snap! Mine is always 28 days but have have had the odd one that has gone a couple of days longer, one was 10 days like this one.

I don’t like getting older! Haha! Though I’m only 32 (closer to 33 but until I’m there, I’m still 32!).

Tink2007 · 31/03/2018 18:01

JustLikeTheySaid - I hope you get it really soon. X

JustLikeTheySaid · 31/03/2018 18:37

Thank you Flowers

I'm 28 so I really hope it isn't my body starting to slow down!

Ahhh you will!

loupelou7 · 31/03/2018 23:13

I definitely don't agree with the Dr who told you those vitamins cant affect cycle length! Pregnacare messed my cycles up and gave me awful side effects! After stopping them I'm back on the straight and narrow!!

JustLikeTheySaid · 31/03/2018 23:43

I felt very cross when she said it because I know nothing else at all has changed except those tablets and they've massively changed my cycle!

How long did it take your cycle to settle back down?

Hello Everyone, I and my husband are trying to conceive since nov 2020, i started pregnacare but after that i got very light periods.. Then i switched to normal folic acid+vit D tablets.. Next month again i got light periods.. And now i have missed my periods and its 53rd day.. All pregnancy tests are negative.. i have talked to doctor and had some blood tests done .. All tests are normal only iron is less. I have been prescribed with iron tablets.. but still no period.. Before all of this my period cycle was normal- 28 days...Can all this happen due to folic acid.. Anybody in same boat? Please reply..

HappySoulMe · 07/03/2021 17:24

@HappySoulMe I'm going through the exact same thing right now. I'm 28 years old, not TTC but still it's causing me a lot of anxiety. I had a pregnancy loss last year and since then my cycles have become a bit irregular but this is the first time Ive missed a period all together since I was 13!! I hope yours are back to normal now and was not anything to worry about? I hope you don't mind me asking
(Sorry I know this thread is 3 years old but saw that you posted recently)

HappySoulMe · 11/04/2021 16:27

@reginagiovanna Yes i visited doctor abou the same , he did some tests for me and found out defeciency of iron. After i started taking iron tablets, i got my period last month..

reginagiovanna · 11/04/2021 16:55

@HappySoulMe I'm so glad to hear that, thank you for letting me know! Great news that it wasn't anything sinister. That gives me hope for my situation.

HappySoulMe · 11/04/2021 17:01

@reginagiovanna yes my doctor said missing periods for one two months is fine..Still if you dont get them, talk to your GP and get your iron levels checked. All the best 🙂
