Light periods after Cerelle?

Hoping someone can offer some advice as I'm finding it difficult to find any information. Came off Cerelle start of Jan, waited about eight weeks for a period, and now have another one right on schedule. Only problem is that they're SO light. I had heavier periods while taking the pill and definitely much heavier periods prior to ever going on the pill in the first place. I'm not doing OPKs yet but had EWCM around day 14, along with mild cramps so I assume I am ovulating.

We want to start TTC #1 in May and I somehow have it in my head that a lighter period means that a fertilised egg won't have anywhere to implant? Has anyone had any experience with this? Fanks :)

Hi, I too came off cerelle in January, few weeks later had withdrawl bleed, then a light period 22nd of February then what was a slightly more heavy period 15th of march lasted five days. I have been using ovulation tests and got what looked like near positive on 26th of March, have got no clue if I'm ovulating or not. Trying for baby no 2. Xx

Periods tend to get lighter as you age do you can't compare to 'before pill'. Also periods while on the pill are withdrawal bleeds, not periods, so can't compare either.

physicskate - thanks. I've been on Cerelle for 12 years since I was 18 and finding it difficult to figure out what my body is doing. A lot of the advice on places like the NHS website or available from my GP don't really answer my questions, so I end up on Mumsnet...

LauraLiverpool - I have been obsessively reading forums looking for other people in my position who have just come off the pill. It's very exciting, but also quite confusing! x

Hi Hun,

I feel your pain and had this problem back in Dec!!!

I came off of Cerelle mid Dec after being on it for 3 years without any periods! I had my withdrawal bleed at the end of December which lasted a couple of days (VERY light) then after a 35 day cycle I had my first 'proper' period which lasted roughly 3 days and was like you said really light! 🤦🏻‍♀️ I then had a 30 day cycle which was more heavier and lasted roughly 4/5 days... So mine have deffo improved over time and I feel like they are 'back to normal' and feel more like a proper period rather than as you say lighter ones 😊 So fingers crossed yours will improve each month!

Oooh I also felt like I had every pregnancy symptom under the sun for a good month... was very frustrating but apparently it's all the hormones leaving your system! 🤦🏻‍♀️😂

Hope this info helps a little, I know it's fustrating when you can't find anyone in the same boat! 🚣🏼

Sending lots of bubba dust to you for the near future 🤰🏻👶🏻😘

Sunshine - I absolutely convinced myself I was pregnant when I first came off it because I was so bloated and headachey! Made DP go and get tests and everything, poor sod.

Yes, it is frustrating since none of my friends have children so no one to compare notes with, so coming on here is a bit of a relief! xx

Bless yah, don't panic I did the same.... I was sooooo convinced 😂👏🏻

Fingers crossed they get better which I'm sure they will! I was literally a complete mess the first month or so... I convinced myself my periods would 'neveeer' return and that I would never go back to normal and I was all doom and gloom! Was a bloody nightmare to be around... God knows how my DH put up with me 😂🤦🏻‍♀️ X
