Hey!

I came across this website when trying to find out when/ how to get my copper coil removed.

Well I had it out today! Myself and partner are going to start trying for our first baby together. I already have an 8 year old from a previous relationship who asks every day when he will be getting a brother or sister Smile

Any conception advice would be greatly received. I’ve currtntly got a bit of spotting and a few cramps. Do I want until I have my first period before trying to conceive?!

Thanks in advance xx

Folic acid for three months before ttc. Start on vit d as well.

Good luck.

Start tracking your cycle once you’ve had your first proper period. Use an ovulation predictor kit, you can get them from amazon. It tells you when your LH is surging triggering ovulation (although a positive test does not mean you’re definitely ovulating) and that’s when you need to be having sex.

Also mentally prepare yourself for a possible long journey. Especially because you have a child already. Many people assume that because you had one child, subsequent ones are guaranteed. Try not to obsess about any weird symptoms you’re getting. Don’t bother testing until your period is late.

There’s not anything that can help you to conceive as such, the only thing that helps is having sex at the right time. Just try and be patient as it might take longer than you think, don’t stress over every little symptom and your folic acid. Good luck!

There is theoretically no barrier to conceiving before your next period if you haven't ovulated yet. When I had my most recent coil removed to ttc I was warned that it was possible I could conceive immediately if I'd had sex within the past five days.

Thank you all for your messages. I’m really excited about this journey for our family!

I’m off to get my folic acid as we speak ☺️ Out of curiosity, how long has it taken for others to conceive after the coil? I know everyone is different but it would be nice to find out ☺️

I had my copper coil removed in Nov 2015. Still not pregnant and headed for ivf. We are 'unexplained' infertility... nothing to do with the coil, I'm sure!

I had the copper coil out and conceived first cycle so very lucky. So I don’t think you need to worry about the coil affecting anything which is ‘normal’ for you.

If your in the U.K. Get seven seas perfect 7 for women it's has the correct folic acid and loads of other good vitamins but is safe if you get pregnant 😊 I would wait at least 3 months personally before getting pregnant but just to minimise risks as much as possible. I got pregnant after the first month of stopping contraception.. had the coil out .. then started taking the vits for 3 months then got pregnant the next cycle 😊 she's 5 months old now and sleeping peacefully! Good luck
