Question about tests / dpo

Might sound daft but I see people test at 10dpo. Is this to do with how many days before af or the amount of days after ovulation? I ask as I have a long cycle so 10dpo is Saturday for me but not due af until 8th April? Xx

Most people will have a 14 day luteal phase. You can use a FRER (but I personally think it’s pointless) 6 days before your period is due and some can get a positive at about 10dpo. So if you have longer cycles, you would have to work out what day is 6 days before your period is due. If that makes sense.

Yes it does. I just wasn't sure how it worked out, whether it was linked to post ovulation or af starting. Roll on 6th April lol x

It's days after ovulation. So 10dpo is 10 days after they thought they ovulated. Implantation usually takes between 6 and 10 days after ovulation and you can't get a positive before that, so those getting a positive at 10dpo must have implanted early.

Kimrobs, are you assuming ov on cd 14?? It's very very odd for a luteal phase to be more than 16 days. How do you track when you ovulate?

KimRobs87 · 28/03/2018 11:54

Well, my cycle is 40 days. I O on cd23 and I'm now on cycle day 30 so approx 10 more days to af? I'm confused lol. I'm sure (the crazy might be back) I felt ovulation on Monday morning? Xx

So you're judging ov day purely on one-sided pain? Not sure this is super accurate for many. I get the pain from about three days before ov. Try tracking bbt. You may find you ov later than you thought.

There's no point testing at 10 days after ovulation (DPO), really. The result will be more accurate if you wait until closer to your expected period, eg 1 day before your expected period or the day of your expected period.
