Concieving after cerazette

Hi all,

Just looking for a bit of advice really. I have been on cerazette for around a year (break in between for 2 months), me and my partner have now made the decision for me to come off the pill and start trying to try for a baby (exciting!Grin). I came off it 2 weeks ago and experienced really light bleeding for about 3/4 days (I’m guessing this is a withdrawal bleed?). Now, my question is how long, if it can even be estimated, will it take for my body to start ovulating again? Or is it possible that I already have? Me and my partner have been having sex every day, so you could say we’re very keen! 😂 I’ve been using ovulation sticks and there was a few faint lines when I came off the pill but been nothing since. Just trying to look for a benchmark on how long it might take us to conceive. Please share any tips, info or even your own stories you may have! I’d really appreciate it! Thanks!

Susso x

I was on cerazette for around 3 years, pill in total for around 5 years
Stopped taking the pill on 14th April and fell pregnant in July so only a couple of months luckily

susso · 27/03/2018 14:44

Thanks for replying tobleroneBoo. Did your periods regulate in this time can I ask?? Thanks!

I ovulated straight away. Got pregnant second month off the pill.

SpadesOfGlory · 27/03/2018 14:54

I'm 10 months down the line after coming off cerazette. My cycles have ranged from 27 to 89 days so far, which is so frustrating when ttc! Hormonal birth control affects everyone differently so I hope you're one of the lucky ones who goes back to normal straight away!

I will say though that my first month off it I was utterly convinced i was pregnant cause I had every symptom under the sun apart from a positive pregnant test!

firstgo1984 · 27/03/2018 15:00

Hi, it took my 6 months when I came off Microgynon (COCP) to conceive my first, with cycles anything from 32 to 77 days! I conceived on what would have been a 54 day cycle.

I have just conceived 2ns cycle off Cerazette. First cycle was 28 days and this one would have been 34...

susso · 27/03/2018 15:46

Thanks all for the replies! I hope I'm one of the lucky ones! I've seen so many posts on here where it has taken at least 7 months to conceive, I'm so impatient so I'm wanting to hopefully not wait this long 😫. Did any of you use ovulation test strips/ kits? If so were they helpful? Mine just don't seem to be shedding any light but maybe I'm just not ovulating? Also what pregnancy tests are the best for early detection? I keep on feeling as if I'm pregnant but I know this is just my mind playing tricks on me as it Defo can't have happened yet😂 maybe I'm coming on my period.. thanks!

First time off Cerazette I fell pregnant straight away, literally. No period.

Second time it took a few cycles for my periods to regulate (40 day cycle, 42 day cycle and then fell pregnant on what would have been a 33 day cycle)

This time I’ve been on Yasmin, I’m on my 4th cycle.

HellaBella0 · 27/03/2018 21:20

I came off it in September after about 10 years on it! Had first period after 6 weeks and then every month. Started TTC in December and fell pregnant in January. Was really worried after being on it so long but it didn't seem to matter at all

susso · 27/03/2018 21:48

Everyone has give me some good positive vibes, thank you! Hopefully it won't be too long before I get that BFPGrin

Just keep having sex! I got pregnant about 6 -8 weeks ish after coming off cerazette. I had a withdrawal bleed then nothing. I thought my body wasn't working but it just took a few weeks to kick back into gear and ovulate Smile

susso · 27/03/2018 21:54

Ahhh really @Newmrs22 ?? That's amazing hoping to be as lucky as you! We're having sex every day at the minute so fingers crossed! These ovulation sticks don't seem to be changing, maybe I'm just not ovulating yet and getting a tad bit obsessive😂 I think I may just scrap them and carry on enjoying it with my partner 🙈

I got pregnant twice VERY quickly after coming off Cerazette. I was probably taking it for about three years prior to my first pregnancy. Both times we decided to start trying and both times got pregnant in the first month before i'd even given much thought to tracking ovulation etc. I don't think i had a period either time. It happened much more quickly than i'd anticipated. Hopefully the same happens for you!

susso · 27/03/2018 22:03

@riddlerdiddler wow amazing! So hope that happens for me!! This is the first time I've been TTC so I'm a little clueless🙈 hopefully I'll have your luck!

I conceived first time coming off Cerazette. So fertility can return pretty quickly.

firstgo1984 · 28/03/2018 14:36

We didn't use ovulation sticks.I just paid attention to cervical mucus. I had pain the day I ovulated.

NeverEnoughSleep1 · 28/03/2018 14:42

I was on the same pill took 4 months for my periods to be semi normal now 8 months down the line I'm still not completely normal

susso · 28/03/2018 15:40

@firstgo1984 ahh I've heard a few people talking about it but I don't know much about it! Ovulation tests are showing up with a faintish like today and I've had period like cramps... wonder if I'm ovulating.. xx

@NeverEnoughSleep1 ahh I'm sorry to hear that, it really is a pain isn't it!! I guess it's just going to take as long as it takes 😟xx

@Mustang27 ahh really? That's given me some hope 😊

Mustang27 · 28/03/2018 16:39

Took a year with my first so imagine our surprise, my partner was pretty devastated tbh as my libido dies immediately after conception lol.

susso · 28/03/2018 16:58

@Mustang27 yeah a big surprise that must have been! Hahaha I think my DP will be devastated when I go off sex too 😂

Stephisaur · 29/03/2018 08:52

I didn’t ovulate my first cycle off cerazette (last month) but I’ve definitely ovulated this month.

Keep track of your cervix position and cervical mucus. For me, that was the best way to stay sane. I looked up what my body should be doing and have kept an eye on it to see if it does!

Just be wary that some of the after effects of coming of cerazette are pregnancy symptoms, which can be really confusing. Good luck - hope you catch straight away :) x

susso · 29/03/2018 09:31

@Stephisaur ahhh thanks so much 😄 I'll do that. I seem to just be so impatient but it is only the first month so I think I just need to chill! Yeah I read up on symptoms and it's so confusing how similar they are😟

Thanks so much good luck to you too!! X

Oysterbabe · 29/03/2018 10:28

My first cycle off it last time was 39 days and no idea when / if I ovulated. Prior to the pill I was always a 28 day cycle person. I ovulated and conceived 14 days into my 2nd cycle.

susso · 29/03/2018 14:14

@Oysterbabe thanks for sharing your experience with me! That's really good how quickly you conceived. I'm hoping I'm going to also be one of the lucky ones. Knowing my luck it'll take months though!

Hi Susso,
I stopped cerelle (same as cerazette but different brand I think) a bit before you. First cycle was 32 days, started using OPKs for second cycle and got a positive on CD23, now waiting to (hopefully not) see AF. I ignored the Clearblue advice to stop after 9 days of high in a row and am glad I did- it’s comforting to know I likely ov-ed. So my only advice is if you want to use OPKs to persist even if the blinking smiley is driving you up the wall! Good luck all Smile
