Talk about bad timing but reality I was very unhappy so done me favour, just that the mat leave was 6mths full pay!!!!

Going to have to try temping I think whilst getting perm job. Just tricky now as desperately trying to get pregnant, hit 40 last week and trying to make first, its been 7mths.

Just not sure how to go about it when going interviews and I’m potentially pregnant. How do you tackle that and how do I find out mat policy without being obvious?

May temp but not done that in 15yrs so goodness knows how that’s will be.

Personally I wouldn't say anything at interview about it . I work with HR and basically if you get pregnant just after you start you should be entitled to statutory regardless it's only if you are already pregnant when you start you probably won't qualify

Thanks for this, is there a way to find out about mat leave?

We keep have savings so if it came to no mat at all think we may be ok just not iddeal. LI’m serving my 4wks for now and on gardening leave. Will keep trying in meantime whilst job hunting. Even thinking about jut temping ongoing. Just a bit daunting. I guess just goes to show can’t plan everything.

Yeah it's so hard. Depending how the interview goes perhaps ask whether they have staff incentives such as childcare vouchers etc this may show at least a flexible employer. If it's any comfort I went for a job last year and got it was so worried about getting pregnant but then it's taken us so long I'm back to not liking the job in the same boat! At least I've passed probation now though!

Sorry to hear Owl, but on positive you passed probation so hopefully when pregnant bit more security.

Being miserable and stressed in my job clearly hasn’t done conceiving any good so I’m hoping these fresh pastures will bring me baby joy as that really is my priority.

We may be having iui next month so fingers crossed and mums the word 🙂

I wouldn't go asking about childcare vouchers if they know you don't have any kids at the moment
