Hi, never posted on Mumsnet before so please be kind!

My DH and I have recently started ttc - kids have never been hugely on the radar, just an abstract idea of something that would be nice. Anyway, so we've stopped using contraception and will just see how we go.

Complicating factor - I have PCOS and due to this my periods are all over the place. Have previously gone 12 months without a period and then bled for 3 months. More recently, there has been a more regular (every 2-3 months) cycle.

Anyway so, we started not using contraception and after a few months of no period (not unusual for me, as above) I took a pregnancy test which was negative. About two weeks ago, I had a 'period' - potential TMI - it was just three huge clots over two days and nothing else, accompanied by pretty awful cramps. We have continued not to use contraception and the last week I have been feeling nauseous and really REALLY tired. I am also very bloated. I haven't taken another test.

Anyway, I'm wondering two things. Could my 'period' have been a very early miscarriage? And could I be in early pregnancy now?

In the absence of a positive test, no one can answer either of your questions. It might have been a chemical, but probably wasn't... you might be pregnant now if you've had unprotected sex. If you're pregnant enough for symptoms, you're pregnant enough for a positive test.

Does sound like an odd period OP, especially if that's not usual for you. It could have been a chemical pregnancy but who knows? Our bodies are weird! Just to put your mind at ease though, I too have PCOS & conceived DC naturally. I was over weight & lost 3 stone then bam pregnant! They do say losing just 5% of your body weight can significantly improve pcos symptoms. Something to bare in mind! Wishing you lots of luck on your journey Flowers

Thanks physicskate you're obviously right about the tests, I just can't bring myself to keep taking them and getting disappointed (turns out, now we're trying, I really want kids). But thanks for taking the time to respond.

Thanks mumlife101 - really encouraging to hear you conceived naturally with PCOS. And well done on the weight loss - how did you do it? I can't - I just get depressed when it doesn't work for my body like it does for everyone else's Sad and then give up

I was on the OMAD diet @mrsron its drastic but I have to say totally worth it to have children. I have lost another stone & a half on it since I had baby too Smile I know it's tough OP, but try & use your want for children as motivation to keep going!
