Can implantation bleed be very dark?

As title says, I thought I was starting af yesterday, had awful stomach cramps all day, no blood until this morning when I had a small amount when wiping but it's very dark brown almost black in colour and rather, erm, stringy/dry.
Could this be an implantation bleed? I thought implant bleeds were usually pink or very light, so I'm not sure what this could be if it's not. Have been wearing a pad since yesterday but not a spot there.
Thanks!

That sounds like it could be 'old' blood. I get similar a day or so after my period has finished.
So it could be implantation?

Thanks for reply, Yip it definitely seems like old blood, I keep knicker-checking for AF but there's nothing. Still a tiny bit crampy today but not as bad as yesterday.
I really wonder... Suppose the only logical thing to do is wait though!

Unfortunately that's all you can do! Fingers crossed for you!

Thanks very much! I've had teeny amounts of brown stringy stuff (sorry if tmi) today, but no actual blood.
I'm perplexed, if this is an implant bleed i don't think I could actually believe it!

My AF started heavily last night. Really shouldn't have had my hopes up, cruel trick from Mother Nature this month!
