Can you stop ovulating after a miscarriage?

Hi all new to this site but can't find any advice online so thought I'd try here. I had an early natural miscarriage at 6 weeks on 1st September last year, I wasn't trying to get pregnant so it came as a massive shock, but just as I was starting to get excited about having a baby I miscarried. I didn't experience any pain, just started lightly bleeding at work that became seriously heavy throughout the day. Went to the hospital that night where they confirmed the miscarriage, then at an internal scan 3 days later they said it had all passed.
It's now nearly 7 months later and I still haven't been having periods; I had a small bleed starting 7/3/18, but it was incredibly light and short and contained quite a bit of stringy tissue, no PMS symptoms and only lasted about 2 days. Doctor has booked me in for an ultrasound and internal scan for 2 weeks, has anybody experienced anything like this? I've also been getting dull achey pains in my lower left side around my pelvis, so worried in case any tissue was left or if I've stopped ovulating. It's so horrible, I should still be pregnant now and instead I'm still feeling the physical effects of losing the baby, I can't move on because of it. Help!
