Thread 6... 😑

A safe place for those of you who have been trying to conceive for 6+ months and even yams aren’t helping. Come and have a good ol’ bitch and a moan without judgement. Please read the rules before posting!

The Yam Commandments are as follows;

  • Thou shalt not arrive one day and post BFP next day
  • Thou shalt not give advice to others when TTC for one month only
  • Thou shalt not participate in one-up-manship and realise TTC is shit for everyone in different ways
  • Thou shall allow posters to be fucked off with the world and everything in it at regular points in the month
  • Thou shalt not be offended by strong language
  • Thou shalt not tell everyone to eat yams
  • Thou shall accept being called a muppet for testing at 7dpo at 9pm at night

And most importantly...

  • Thou shalt not symptom spot during the two week wait and must be prepared for a telling off if you do so.

NEW RULE ALERT!

-Thou shalt not post pictures of positive pregnancy tests. We will be delighted to hear about it but no photos, please and thank you

Thanks June - it is, and we're only at the beginning really compared to so many of you ladies on here but I really appreciate the support/space to vent.

Yes, I had day 3 and day 21 bloods done at 9 months TTC in December as they did them early - I have a genetic condition that will affect 50% of my pregnancies so if/when I do get pregnant we'll have that to deal with, so the GP was happy to do initial tests early. Day 3 showed no issues, Day 21 indicated I wasn't ovulating but could well have been done on the wrong day as my cycles were still a bit haywire.

Got an appointment for the end of the month so imagine they'll want to repeat them then. Going to ask for a referral back to the genetic counsellor we saw before trying too as I think talking some things through with her might help (not to conceive, but just help in general). Has anyone on here had genetic counselling? Did you find it helpful or just overwhelming?

My guilty pleasure is playing on The Sims (yes, I’m nearly 29 years old lol) but I was bored in the holidays and so I made my family on it. Me, my OH and my DD. First thing the Sim me did was start reading a pregnancy book. I literally can’t escape it

@bubblegum89 I used to love that game! Could spend hours creating the perfect version of myself etc. :-)

I think I'm due to start my fourth month of accupuncture (depending on if FP shows up tomorrow). I wouldn't say mine is relaxing.. not like reflexology is! But I get to offload which is good as she's a very good listener!

SoozC · 09/04/2018 19:48

Another big SIMs fan here! My favourite part was working out my family and building my house - I had a cheat for more cash so I built mansions straight off!

Maybe I should get an updated version and build a big Yammers house! Grin

Justwaitingforaline · 09/04/2018 20:02

A present for you all, Yammers!

CD4 today and got a flashing smiley on my CB ov tests - apparently the first month you use them, you can get a lot of flashing smileys but I shall try to remain positive!

I wonder how many people in my age group use 'rosebud' as a password.... 😂

Pinkemi · 09/04/2018 21:36

Meeeeee! Best cheat ever! Haha

Bubblegum89 · 09/04/2018 22:27

Haha I’m glad I’m not the only Sim lover 😂 rosebud doesn’t work anymore, now the cheat is motherlode. You should see my house, it’s amazing lmao. Although the Sim of me just had a baby as well so now I’m like, what a bitch. Ah well, at least I am look after a virtual baby since I can’t do it for real!

I think I’m older than a lot of you. Got my first email address and mobile phone in university and have never played the sims! Although DH may have it in his collection.

My nipples are on fire. So uncomfortable. Usually it’s more breast than nipple soreness by now (7dpo). Anyone have any solutions?

Chooklass · 10/04/2018 05:44

@Paranormalbouquet - snap! (Re age thing!)
I find wearing a sports bra helps with boob pain. Mine are killing me this month (they've done this before though - I have to keep telling myself this so as not to get hopes up!)

SparkwoodAnd21 · 10/04/2018 07:25

Me three Para and Chook! I’m approaching 41 so I am well old.

How are you today Pink?

SoozC · 10/04/2018 07:45

Hey, I'm old - nearly 37! First email address at uni too and my first phone aged 16.

LimpLettice · 10/04/2018 08:11

Geriatric here too, 41 this year. Never played the Sims and was at uni when I got my first phone never mind email!

LexieJean · 10/04/2018 08:13

I’m in the older camp- my friends and I had pagers! Anyone else remember them? We thought they were so cool but I can’t remember that they actually did anything?! 😂

Paranormalbouquet · 10/04/2018 08:16

I’m almost 36. Started uni young though (17)! Oddly with me my nipples are more tender non-pregnant than pregnant. They are really awful this month though, think the latest miscarriage messed everything up!

Back on the healthy eating wagon. Trying to eat 1200cals a day and gym 4/week until surgery as could do with losing lots! Although aim is 5kg down pre op.

Paranormalbouquet · 10/04/2018 08:19

@LexieJean I’ve had a pager at work for most of my career (none for now as teaching 80% of the time) and it would bleep roughly every 16 seconds. When we were short staffed I carried lots of them.

I’m so conditioned that every time I hear a bleep anywhere I automatically look down at my waistline!

LexieJean · 10/04/2018 09:20

😂@paranormal at least you’ve used them. We were just teenagers so I’m not sure how urgent “call M about where to meet tonight” was! 😊

DoAsDreamersDo · 10/04/2018 09:37

I remember having a pager before I got a mobile when I was about 16. I feel old now!

Paranormalbouquet · 10/04/2018 09:52

I’ve had a temp dip at 8dpo. I’m glad I’m doing this on a month I’m not trying as I’d probably convince myself it’s an implantation dip otherwise! It’s probably my erratic sleep causing it?

LexieJean · 10/04/2018 10:05

Thank you @justwaiting for those ecards- needed a good chuckle on the train.
Might print out that definition for the fridge! 😂

catherine1988 · 10/04/2018 11:46

Loved the Sims, remember the cheat where you could give yourself unlimited money. Wish I could do that in real life for unlimited IVF attempts- ROSEBUD;!;!;!;!!

Phoned the IVF coordinator today, first appointment should be august time... getting there :)

Bubblegum89 · 10/04/2018 15:28

Ugh sorry to be a Debbie Downer but I’m just feeling so crap. I’m so fed up of all of this. I want it to go away and just stop but I know deep down that I can’t, I have to keep going to get what I want. My OH has even lost faith, he’s already made me put stars on the calendar for my next fertile week even though my period isn’t due for another 6 days. I had this weird twinge/cramp in my left side the other day and I was like “implantation?!” even though I know full well it isn’t because I get weird twinges like that all the time during my tww, albeit always on my right side normally.

One FB friend just had her “accident” baby (baby number 4) another one has just announced she is keeping the baby she fell accidentally pregnant with (baby number 3). I’ve got another friend who is ready to pop. Another who has just put up scan pictures of her unplanned baby (number 4 as well) and another who found out she was pregnant by accident last month (she has 5 kids). The friend I have who is about to pop was having fertility issues too and was ttc for a long time but I’m about to pass her time ttc. She was trying for 18 months before she got pregnant, I’m heading for month 19.

I just hate this. Why is it so much to ask for? Every single person I know who is currently pregnant or has had a baby in the last 6 months (bar the aforementioned girl who had fertility issues) didn’t plan it. I know 12 people as of right now who are having an unplanned baby and I know 7 that have given birth to their unplanned baby in the last few months. I’m starting to wonder if I should just go back to binge drinking, eating crap and not looking after myself because it seems to work for everyone else.

This sucks.

@Bubblegum89. I'm sorry to hear you're having a shit time. I think my DH has given up hope too! The last time I told him I'd started my period he just said "Oh right" it's like he wasn't surprised at all. Ever since I told him about the PCOS it's like he's mentally labelled me as infertile! Confused My shit head brother and his wife are due to start ttc in October and they will fall straight away - obviously - and my mother will yap on about it at every opportunity!

@Paranormalbouquet. I'm trying to keep at 1,000 max at the minute. I've been so un disciplined for so long that I had to go full force from the start. I've cut out dairy and sugar and there's been a noticeable difference, my spare tyre has gone down a lot and my clothes are becoming looser. I really wasn't aware how bloated some of the things I was eating were making me.
