A safe place for those of you who have been trying to conceive for 6+ months and even yams aren’t helping. Come and have a good ol’ bitch and a moan without judgement. Please read the rules before posting!

The Yam Commandments are as follows;

• Thou shalt not arrive one day and post BFP next day

• Thou shalt not give advice to others when TTC for one month only

• Thou shalt not participate in one-up-manship and realise TTC is shit for everyone in different ways

• Thou shall allow posters to be fucked off with the world and everything in it at regular points in the month

• Thou shalt not be offended by strong language

• Thou shalt not tell everyone to eat yams

• Thou shall accept being called a muppet for testing at 7dpo at 9pm at night

And most importantly...

• Thou shalt not symptom spot during the two week wait and must be prepared for a telling off if you do so.

Arrived home to normal colposcopy results (biopsies) so that’s reassuring and official surgery date.

Been trying out temping but with DD waking me at night and drinking more than usual on hols I don’t think it’s in the least bit accurate! Have my usual sore nipples for past 3 days so I know I’m in luteal phase anyway.

I think I live near @soozc so is like to go on the reserve list too.

Sooz - huge empathy here, the effect on sex life breaks my heart too. I’m not sure how to fix it. Everyone says “relax” and “make it all about the sex” neither of which are very simple to do somehow. Not sure me saying we’re rooting for you is particularly helpful either so I’ll just say hop you’re able to enjoy your weekend.

Thanks, guys. I seduced DH so hopefully he didn't feel too forced into it! A few more days only I reckon; I'm temping so hope to confirm ov for tomorrow or Sunday, latest Monday. At least I'll have a rough idea this cycle so I'll know when to expect fp.

@SoozC and @DianaBlythe the one thing I’m enjoying about this time off trying is the properly spontaneous sex. DH likes the pressure being off too. It is really hard to relax when you desperately want something. I’m not enjoying condom use though but really can’t risk my surgery now.

Do you usually temp? This is my first month, just as a practice run when not trying and I think my poor sleep and holiday are messing with readings. I’ve definitely ovulated as had cramps at weekend and sore nipples now, but I think I ovulated a little later than Fertility Friend says.

SOS - have to take my niece (3) to a soft play party for my sister today. I drank last night and now have a wobbly head. My only silver lining would be that "hotnurserydad" will be there.... but I have a massive spot (I'm happily married but that's very much NOT the point!) May have a little cry.

@WonkyDonk87 Man, I feel for you! Having my LOVELY pcos means that at least once a month I end up with a huge bloody spot, usually only the one but it's so obvious! lol @ hot nursery dad

@SoozC. I'd like to temp but I don't always sleep very well :-( - would it still he accurate if I manages a block of three to four hours before waking?

I'm a serial temper. I've found that all the advice about having to wake up at exactly the same time and it must be after at least three hours otherwise it will be a waste of time is kind of overkill. I'm fairly relaxed about when I take it, don't freak out if I have to get up and pee, or the cats decide 5am is a great time for a raid on the kitchen or there has been much wine, or whatever - I can still see the temp pattern forming.

Warning though, if you're prone to reading into things, it's probably best to stop after you've confirmed you've ovulated, because "when you're pregnant your temperature stays elevated" which may well be true, but does not necessarily mean that some months your temp will not stay merrily high until about day 3 of your next cycle, just to fuck with you, leading you to in the insanity of peeing on sticks DURING your very, very obvious period, just in case you're a very, very special snowflake.

Oh, and also, "implantation dips" are quite often actually a very evil timed oestrogen surge, which gives you a lovely looking dip at exactly the right kind of time.

@paramormal Ive had properly sore nips in the week following my mc and im wondering if they are ov related. Im taking opks to track this cycle and so far have had meh lines. Nip pain has easec so Im wondering now if ive missed my post mc ov? this is so bloody hard! Planned to start dtd tonight to begin the process again. Why can i be 25 and bloody fertile?!?!? 😣

@minime2017 when was your miscarriage? Have you had a negative test?

Just got baby bombed by a friend who is 40 and having 'surprise' twins. Finding it really difficult to be happy for her.

Hope I got bombed yesterday, unplanned third baby, and I was a total mess most of the day. I had a big cry, a cuddle with DH, cleaned the house in an attempt to clean away my negative feelings. Hugs to you, baby bombs are really crap

@paranormal my mc was 12 days ago. I took a hpt 4 days ago before my epu appointment. It was a barely there line. Havent had the heart to take another. Opk tonight has darkened slightly and im getting a few ovary twinges. I don't expect and really won't mind if we don't conceive this month. I'm just dreading getting my FP and want to know when to expect it ☹

@minime2017 I totally understand, I had a mini breakdown when I got my period after the most recent miscarriage. I doubt you’ve missed ovulation, sore nipples were probably hormone changes.

Ordered an ovusense monitor yesterday and it arrived today! Just waiting for FP to bugger off so I can start using it. I tried temping before but my sleep patterns are rubbish so hoping this will be more reliable. I've got PCOS so hoping this will help establish if I'm ovulating or not!

Sorry to hear about the baby bomb hope, I can sympathize completely!

I swear that since deciding to start IVF we've actually both been enjoying sex again. Actual, fun sex rather than military operations and crying if one of us can't ahem ... finish.

That said, I've still got half an eye on my calendar looking at ovulation times, even though I KNOW I can't get pregnant. It's a really hard habit to break. Still I'm actually looking forward to my next period as that's when my drug regime starts. Apologies in advance if I turn into a hormonally crazed nightmare. I have a history of not doing fabulously well with chemically modified hormone levels.

@Si1ver I totally get that; things better in that dept here as not trying (condoms excepted!). I hope the ivf drugs aren’t too hard on you.

@HotCrossRabbit I’m like you with temping- just want to try it out but am not going to get up early just to do it! Also sleep poorly, DD wakes me etc so they are a bit erratic but I have a definite pattern.
