......after dtd to remain lying down (so sperm doesn't "fall out") ......gross I know.......am wondering if it's ok or am I likely to get infection? Ok/advisable to lay like that 'til morning?

Semen towels for the win then!

I don’t go full shower mode but I find it a bit gross that people just roll over and sleep whilst a mixture of bodily fluids slowly runs out of them and all over their legs/bedsheets lol maybe it’s just me

rainbowcakes · 19/03/2018 09:36

I've been wondering the exact same thing! In the past I've had 2 chronic cases of cystitis, requiring antibiotics/time off work, and both times it was after not cleaning up after sex...

So i tend to dash to the bathroom as soon as we've finished as I'm so paranoid about it happening again! However we are TTC now so not sure if doing this will affect me getting pregnant?! Should i stay put for a little while??

Bubblegum89 · 19/03/2018 09:38

rainbowcakes no definitely not, especially if you’re prone to UTI’s. It’s not beneficial to conception and you risk getting an infection

When I was ttc it took 9 months and I thought I'd try lying with my legs up against the headboard after we had dtd and that's the time I conceived. I'm now 17+4 weeks pregnant :)

@Bubblegum89 phew, thank you! Honestly I've never had cystitis like it in my life....absolutely agony and having to stay in the bathroom ALL day...driving to the doctors, waiting to be seen by the doctor and then waiting in the pharmacy for the prescription was unbearable! I'm so paranoid about it now!

isthistoonosy · 23/03/2018 19:39

I guess the diff between women must be that people like me who roll over and sleep aren't prone to UTI's and don't have anything dripping down their legs/ onto their bedsheets.
Those people that get up to shower are prone to UTI's, dripping etc.

Mumlife101 · 23/03/2018 20:28

I'm really confused by all these people getting UTI's Confused I have never in my life got a UTI from semen. It's meant to be up there isn't it?!

Fruitcocktail6 · 23/03/2018 20:39

Mumlife101

It's not from semen. It's from other germs entering your urethra during sex, from your partner, from fingers, from bedding.

Nice for you you've never had one. I assure you they're not fun.

Bubblegum89 · 23/03/2018 20:54

Semen doesn’t go up your urethra for a start lol if it does then you’ve been using the wrong hole. It’s germs around that area from various things that can get into your urinary tract. Peeing after sex helps because the acidity in urine can kill the germs before they get in there and cause any problems. Also not being prone to UTI’s doesn’t mean you’re immune to them

Mumlife101 · 23/03/2018 20:57

Didn't say I was immune bubblegum just that I'd never had one from sex & didn't know you could. Feeling the love on mumsnet tonight GrinGrinGrin

Bubblegum89 · 23/03/2018 21:03

Lol I know but I’m just saying so because you’d be surprised at the amount of people that don’t bother thinking about stuff like that because they’ve “always been fine” and then further down the line, they get a UTI or bladder infection and can’t ttc because of the antibiotics they’re on. Gotta be prepared for every eventuality!
