Can someone please explain to me what spotting is, what it looks like, how long it lasts and how long after conception it happens? (From your experience)

Thank you

Whenever I've had spotting in the past, it has been at a time AF isn't due (so could be ovulation, implantation or other times of month) and it has only been enough for a dribble in a pad/knickers. Mostly it might only be noticeable when you wipe.

Spotting can mean a lot of different things. I'm currently TTC and had spotting around when I ovulated this month and yesterday (which may have been implantation, obviously not sure yet!)

Spotting should not be bright red in colour - that indicates an actual bleed. I used to get it a lot on the pill, which was great fun Hmm, and it was always pink/brown in colour and only lasted for about a day.

I understand that it can happen during pregnancy too, and it is something to do with blood vessels from what I can gather. It shouldn't be cause for concern, but if it is you should contact a doctor or midwife.
