Hi guys

Well I first got ov pain on tues, it carried on to weds and now were on day 3 with quite bad ov pain...still! Myself and dp are ttc, we had unprotected sex over the weekend and on tuesday.. however I am more concerned why it hurts so much this month and for three days!? Does anyone get this? Is it ok? X

Don't want to get your hopes up, but I had this the month we conceived. Apparently the egg travelling down the Fallopian tube can cause pain (can also happen if the egg hasn't been fertilised, but that's the only time I've ever experienced it).

Thank you for the quick response! It's reassuring to know that somebody else has experienced more than 1 day of ov pain.. was getting a bit worried! X

Is it definitely OV pain? I was admitted to hospital in November with what I thought had started out as OV pain, but the GP thought was appendicitis. Turned out to be a 3inch ovarian cyst.

I get OV pain every single month, lasting about a week on and off. It’s worse since I had kids.

Hello.

I’ve had pains all my adult life like this, to the degree that I can tell that DS came from my left ovary and DD my right!

As I had fertility treatment while TTC that involved lots of scans including during ovulation time, and speaking to both fertility knowledgable people and gynacogists about it. It’s been explained by more than one person that as the egg is released from the ovary and heads down the Fallopian tube, the ‘eruption’ of the egg also releases a tiny amount of ovarian fluid into the abdominal cavity. Did you know your ovary and Fallopian tube aren’t joined up in a watertight manner? I didn’t. It kind of gave me this face >Shock

That eruption of ovulation and the associated fluid can cause irritation in some people.

I ended up having both DC on cycles with no fertility assistance too, if that helps reassure you. The hardest bit for me was trying to have cycles where we were all laid back and ‘trying not to tey’ when the pain made it impossible not to know, and also feeling jiggy when the reality was I felt bloated and tender.

Yeah a cyst did cross my mind but really not sure.. it is ov pain its the same as the usual pain I get every month but my ov pain usually only lasts for 1 day maybe 2 days at the most.. but I'm now on day three and it's not all the time but on and off throughout the day and it can be just as bad as it was a couple of days ago. As mentioned though we are ttc but i have been pregnant before and don't remember having ov pain as an early preg sympton. Having said that I do get pregnant very quickly so maybe this is it... i know every pregnancy is different and this is our first month of trying and we have had a lot of unprotected.. ah gosh, i dont know what to think! Maybe a trip to the docs if it continues. Did anyone else get ov pain as an early preg sympton?

Bu the way thank you all so much for your quick responses. I didn't expect so many replies so quickly and it really is very reassuring knowing that there are people out there to talk to about things like this x

How long did your cyst pain last? I got diagnosed with 4.5cm cysts on both ovaries about 3 weeks ago after being admitted twitch suspended appendicitis.

I still can’t stand for more than 20mins or so because of the pain - was yours like that?

ginyogarepeat · 15/03/2018 20:38

I've heard it can be a positive sign of conception, but in my case it's caused by endometriosis, so there are possible gynaecology conditions that can cause this too.

Good luck - hope it's good news for you!

After I had my 1st baby I started getting Bad ovulation pain every month, never did get it checked out but now I’m unexpectedly expecting my 2nd so I’m guessing there wasn’t much up. I also got stabbing pains in one side and tenderness for about a week both times I conceived, wasn’t ever sure if it was implantation i could feel or the release of the egg. My cycle is also 35 days.

Rachell1 · 15/03/2018 20:53

Thanks guys. One other sympton I did have yesterday evening was the type of sharp pain you get when you have a urinary tract infection but it didn't hurt to pee and to be honest it only lasted a couple of hours so don't think it is a urine infection.. plus like I said the pain i am feeling is definitely an 'ov type pain' / implantation / gynae issue.. i will just have to keep an eye on it over the next few days! X

@derelictwreck sorry to hear that. I had similar, the pain is just awful! It started in October around when I ovulated and lasted maybe five days. Then it came on every two weeks until just after Christmas. The worst pain was in November when the Dr thought it was appendicitis. That particular episode lasted about 2-3 weeks but after the worst of the pain it was just like a dull ache most of the time.

Hope you feel better soon!

Loved reading this thread as I have always wanted to find people who get ovulation pains. Mine aren't unbearable at all but I get pains right from ovulation to af never bad enough to need paracetamol but still uncomfortable. I'll see if I still get it the month I finally concieve! X

MagicalCreatures · 16/03/2018 22:49

I get strong ovulation pains too. That usually only last the day.
But the month I conceived mine lasted the whole time till I got a positive pregnancy test 9dpo x
