Implantation Bleeding questions?

Hi
Name changed for this as it is embarrassing how little i know about how my own body works...
With my first pregnancy there was no implantation bleeding - i just waited until my period was 1/2 days late and tested and got a BFP. I had a big bleed at about 6.5 weeks which terrified me, but I was scanned and everything was okay, and I had no bleeding otherwise throughout pregnancy.

Now I'm TTC #2, and unfortunately this has coincided with my periods going haywire. In the last 7 months I've gone from having regular 30 day cycles to having anything from 35/39/37 days, so I'm not sure where I am. I'm having some bleeding last night/today, but it is brownish and hasn't yet turned into a flood as per period. If I was still having 30 day periods, this would be when my period was due, but with the new longer times I wasn't expecting it for another week and a half.

Am i kidding myself that this might be implantation bleeding, esp. as I never had it with my first? Can it be different on different pregnancies? For those who have had it, how long did it last/how heavy etc?

Every pregnancy is different. Only time (and a test) will tell...

The rule of thumb regarding implantation bleeding is it should only really be when you wipe and certainly not enough to fill a pad or a tampon- is this the case at the moment ? Regardless though you should get a positive test within a couple of days of implantation taking place, so you should be able to test and find out soon :) good luck!

Thank you Smile
I know in my rational brain that wait-and-test is the only way to actually know, i’m just excited/nervous and needed to get it outside my head rather than inside. No one in real life knows i’m ttc (except my DP, obv, but i’m trying not to get his hopes up along with mine).

It isn’t filling a pad, it is small enough amounts (and brown) that i can still kid myself it might not be AF. I’ll know tonight/tomorrow i suspect if AF turns up in earnest...

Implantation bleeding is generally brown so you aren’t kidding yourself to question it :)

I will keep my fingers crossed 🤞 for you x

My implantation bleeding was one or two wipes of brown blood. It then took 4 or 5 days for me to get a positive test.

It definitely could be. I had implantation bleeding with my first but haven’t had any at all with this pregnancy (which has made me worry, our bodies can’t win!)

Redpramlady · 14/03/2018 21:13

I've had implant bleeds with all three of my pregnancies, kind of pink and brown spotting when wiping bfp approx 5 days after
Wishing you the best of luck

Just as an update, AF showed up with a vengeance the day after I posted this, so def not implantation bleeding in my case. Oh well. Thank you so much to everyone who answered, it meant a lot to be able to get excited/nervous out loud.
Now I just have to work out why AF is so much heavier this month than it usually is, and why the timing of my periods has gone so pear shaped. Gah. Roll on being able to press a button and automate this whole useless body-thing...

Ah what a bitch AF is!! You could have possibly had a chemical if your bleeding is heavier than usual and you had some implantation bleeding. Just a possibility of course x take care x

hi everyone, im not sure if this is where i should be putting this but i need some advise.
To cut a long story short, I've been ttc for 18mths with no luck, this month was quite stressful for me but nothing i felt i couldn't handle .

during the time AF was due i think i had some spotting. it was pink and was there only when i wiped. 2nd day there was a little more spotting than the day before, I thought it might be AF and since im usualy heavy in the first day i thought id put in a tampon but it wasn't enough to fill it. it was very little.
The 3rd day i wore a pad instead and i had some red blood which was water like consistency. I switched to tampons and the whole day it was very light but i managed to fill up one tampon. I usually menstruate for 3-4 days. this time by the end of the 3rd day i had nothing, only to wake up on day 4 and find pink blood when i wiped.

i done a PT and got a BFN....i just wanted to know if anyone else had any similar experiences.

thanks in advance

Hi

Sorry to hear you have been ttc for a while now. You should probably start your own thread as you might get more of a response.

From what I was told that sounds like way too much bleeding to be implantation. It should really be just a couple of wipes on the tissue. Not enough think about using a tamon or questioning AF. I am sure there are some people that have had heavier implantation bleeding though and of course some people get bleeding in pregnancy like me (low placenta). You should have got a positive test by now though.

Good luck and take care x

@RLOU88 thanks for the advice. I will definitely keep it in mind.
