Why add more sperm?

I'm TTC but this month only managed sex 3 days before positive opk and day of positive opk. I feel I've really limited my chances this month. But then if sperm lives three days is there really a need to keep having sex. If I had sex day of positive opk then there would be sperm there ready for the egg. Does more sperm really increase chances in these circumstances?

It's thought that only 10-50 sperm actually make it all the way through the Fallopian tube from an average ejaculation. Generally speaking, the more sperm the better, though by Dtd too frequently it may sacrifice on quality so that you end up with fewer sperm teaching the Fallopian tubes.

It's just basic science and statistics. It's a number's racket!

Also - sperm only survives that long in the Fallopian tubes.

Those that don't make it that far die within hours

Also the sperm heads secrete an enzyme to help it break through the egg coating. More sperm, more enzyme, more likely one breaks through...

Also not all sperm lives that long. They CAN survive for 3 days but that doesn’t mean they WILL survive that long
