Illness affecting ovulation?

I’m in my 3rd month ttc. This month I’ve gone all out using OPKs, taking supplements and following the SMEP plan.

I’ve not had a positive opk yet this month, by my estimate it should be in the next couple days. However, this week I’ve been struck down with an awful cold and chest infection. Still managing to DTD (lying there and making him do all the work Grin) but I’m worried that the illness will halt or stop my ovulation this month. I know when you are ill your body shuts down non-essential stuff in order to recover, so I am concerned that I’m out this month before I’ve barely begun Sad

Does anyone have any experience of being sick but still conceiving/having a positive opk, or not ovulating due to illness?

I think it can delay ovulation. Im sure I ovulated over a week later than normal (based on strong ovulation pains I get-Im not using Opk's). I was ill when I was due to ovulate but also started taking new vitamin tablets so not sure what is to blame!

I ovulated a week late in December after flu! Went from a 25 day cycle to 32 days that month, then back to normal the month after. I think it's kind of cool our bodies can do that - though annoying if you're waiting on ovulation.

Thanks, hopefully that just means it might be delayed then rather than skipped completely this month! Fingers crossed I get that positive OPK in the next week.
