Hi

I'm TTC1, cycle 2. Last cycle was first cycle off the pill and I had a normal 28 day cycle. I think I ovulated on CD18.

This cycle, I took this picture on CD10 (last Thursday). The line has only been light since then. I assumed that it wasn't a positive and that I would ovulate around D18 again, but my lines are still extremely faint/barely visible. Is it likely that I ovulated that early?

Does the picture look positive to you?

To add, I'm now CD15.

Looks positive to me. I’ve been off the pill 5 cycles now and my ovulation dates are still all over the place. my first was Cd17 then it went to Cd11. Just everything settling down. Good luck 😊

Thank you! I was ill last week and could only DTD the day after this test. Do you think that chances are I'm out for this month?

On another thread someone's doctor said it's the days of and after that you should be dtd so yes, sounds fine

Thank you! I've been stressing because I thought it was a completely wasted month. I know it's only cycle 2 but still...!

I think it looks nearly positive but not quite.

8DaysAWeek · 27/02/2018 22:28

I get lines like this very often so I wouldn't count that as positive personally. Though some women will tell you that that's the darkest their opk ever gets and they ovulate. Some LH surges are very short (6 hours long) and it you aren't testing twice daily you may miss it

8DaysAWeek · 27/02/2018 22:29

What CD are you on now? LH fluctuates all through your cycle and you don't always get a simple light to dark to light pattern.

jemimafuddleduck · 27/02/2018 23:01

I have been testing twice a day. If this isn't a positive do you think that maybe I haven't ovulated then?
How do you know if you have actually ovulated and are fertile?! That's what it looked like last month and my CM doesn't seem to change much?! Confused

I would say you haven't ovulated yet but its hard to know.

Temping is the most accurate way (other than ultrasound!) to confirm ovulation. Even a very obvious darker than the control line on an opk doesn't guarantee ovulation, just that you had an LH surge. But a positive opk coupled with a temp spike 24 hours or so later should be enough to confirm it. Even better, if you have ewcm or watery cm at the same time!

Hope that helps :) any more questions let me know. I've not had a period post giving birth to my son 19 months ago as I'm breastfeeding and have been taking opks daily for 5 months and have read everything there is to know about them 🙈

jemimafuddleduck · 28/02/2018 08:50

Thanks 8daysaweek. I guess I'm just worried that I'm not ovulating?! As it's only C2 I didn't want to go full on buying thermometers etc but if I don't conceive this month I think I will.
I just assumed because my periods returned to normal straight away after coming off contraception, that'd mean I was fertile and could conceivably get pregnant!
So have you been ovulating if you haven't had a period?

I know what you mean! You don't want to get all stressed and obsessive too, totally get it. Nope I've not been ovulating. I think it's fairly normal to have anovulatory cycles at the start of your periods coming back, frustratingly. But if I was you I wouldn't lose hope for this month! You could just ovulate a bit later :)
