HSG test-anyone had them get pregnant naturally?

Saw gynaecologist on weekend, she did scan and mentioned I need hsg scan with the dye and said I should take painkillers beforehand, I’m quite nervous but I have to book with nhs fertility side once my period starts again as has to be done cd10-12. Gutted I couldn’t get it done this week but will wait. Plus I’m 39 so don’t want to wait too long but read that the dye hsg test can potentially unblock tubes and can get pregnant 2-3months after. Has this happened to you?

Hi there, it hasn't happened to me. But I know that although it's a diagnostic test to check the patency of tubes, it's well known to be therapeutic and the x-ray contrast can 'flush' your tubes and unblock them Smile

*I should have said. An HSG while it can unblock your tubes, isnt performed to do so, it is just a side effect of the diagnostic test.

I had a HSG this morning, and I too have heard that it can clear things out a bit. Wondering if it will work....Hope so!

I tried for 11 months with absolutely no luck, had a HSG and got pregnant 10 days later...it can happen!

I had a HyCoSy (same as hsg except they use an internal US instead of X-ray) a few weeks ago. In my first FW now. Been ttc for 18 months with no pregnancies but I have heard some people conceive after having their tubes flushed as the process can remove small blockages. A friend of mine was ttc for 4 years with no luck then got pregnant the first cycle after her HyCoSy so it definitely does happen. Not sure I’ll be so lucky but you never know. Good luck :)

Yes I know someone who conceived after this (clear) test- after TTCing unsuccessfully for 2.5 years.

Yes I got pregnant the cycle following a HSG. The HSG was clear so no idea if it was that. I had been ttc for two years.
Second time round, the HSG didn’t work it’s magic and I’m still ttc #2 two years later.

I got pregnant on cycle 3 after HSG having ttc for 2 years before that. Best of luck 🤞

I tried for nearly 2 years with no success and then after an HSG I got pg 3 times within about 7 cycles (1 mc, 2 DC). There are lots of people for whom it doesn’t help so don’t pin your hopes on it, but yes it can happen.

I had one in September and ovulated a few days later and got pregnant that cycle so it certainly worked for me. Unfortunately that pregnancy ended in a MMC (unrelated) and then got pregnant the next cycle I tried after that (sadly another loss). But after months of nothing each time I tried after the HSG we conceived.
