Using OPK as PT. I’m so stupid

11 dpo today, didn’t have any PT’s to hand and had heard about OPK’s being used as a cheaper alternative.

I’ve been so sure that this was our month, it’s our 9th cycle trying. I can’t even tell you why I’m sure, symptoms aren’t anything out of the ordinary, I just have this feeling.

Anyway used an OPK yesterday with afternoon wee I’d held for about 3 hours and there were two lines, the second one wasn’t quite as strong as the control but almost. Taken another one this morning and there wasn’t even a hint of a second line

I know I shouldn’t have done it and I’m off into town today to buy a proper HPT.

There’s a line there now but quite faint!

There will almost always be a second line on an OPK as it measures a hormone in your body that is present throughout your cycle. A positive OPK is when the second line is at least as dark as the control line if not darker. So a faint second line is negative.

The hormones for ovulation and for pregnancy are similar, which is why OPKs can also detect them but for reassurance I would use a pregnancy test.

Also, try the Amazon cheapy pregnancy tests. They only cost £2.79 for 15 tests (different bundles available) and theyre just as good. I'd never waste my money on Clear Blue now.

I got a positive opk when I was pregnant- I also thought they could be used if you don't have any pregnancy tests in the house?

AH balls. With how faint it was at this stage I’d say that I’m deffo not pregnant then was so sure this month.

I don’t buy Clearblue or any blue dye test. Had too many evap lines from them. FRER have never failed me. I’m in town now so going to go and buy some, see what the verdict is.

Just done a FRER and BFN.

Guessing I’m out for this month.
