Physical pain after MC

Kate8989 · 20/02/2018 22:56

I had a MC 7 weeks ago and I’ve been getting pains on left and right side near ovaries on and off since MC.
Just coming to end of period which was fine, not very heavy had the occasional cramp.
Has anyone else had random unexplained pains since MC?

@Kate8989 I confess I'm a therapist so the being rational kind of comes with the job - I most definitely have my less rational moments and panic google things though! I always try to allow myself 5 mins of 'worry time' then try to distract myself from it!

Kate8989 · 25/02/2018 19:44

Ahhh that’s makes a lot of sense ha ha. From someone whose had therapy and also had counselling training it all makes sense now lol. I’m not very good at catching the irrational thoughts before they go absolutely haywire. It’s definitely something I need to work on.
You don’t have to answer this as I know it’s personal, but are you continuing TTC or getting all this sorted first?! X

Yeah, thoughts definitely do run away from me too, but all we can do is try to look after ourselves and not beat ourselves up! Doc has advised we keep ttc as my luteal phase is so short it may take a long time for us x

Kate8989 · 04/03/2018 16:22

@kaytees- how are things going with you?! Xx

@Kate8989 hey! Yeah not too bad - I had mysterious lines appear on my opks mid week (I usually get no lines until LH surge) so hoping that even though they were faint it means things might be going in the right direction! Still got these weird pains though.. more blood tests this Friday. How are you? Have you managed some stress free time?

Kate8989 · 04/03/2018 18:14

@kaytees- bless you, it’s not nice going back and forth to the doctors is it. That’s all I feel I do at the moment. I went on Friday and she said I had a ridiculous amount of discharge and my cervix was bleeding, so I’m on the strongest dosage of antibiotics! I’m still getting the unexplained pains though. Off to see a counsellor on Thursday, I feel sorry for her already as I have so much to get off my chest 🙈. How are you feeling about everything!? X

Hi @Kate8989 we've spoken before, how frustrating for you! I don't think the hot water bottle will be causing harm. After my mc I got advised to use one (I can't take ibuprofen or paracetamol) it sounds like you're just still healing, I'm sorry this is still going on for you. If you can take ibuprofen I'd advise that (or get the one that has codeine in it too) I've finally got my scan a week tomorrow, when's yours booked in for? x

Kate8989 · 04/03/2018 19:28

@DaisyMay25- thank you for replying. I’m a bit hesitant to take tablets. I’m taking antibiotics at the moment, which I’m not happy about but got no choice. I haven’t heard about internal ultrasound. But the Dr had a quick look inside on Friday and said it doesn’t look right at all, hence me being on the antibiotics. How are you feeling? X

Oh @Kate8989 you really are having a rubbish time of it - that doctors visit sounds really unsettling. It's tricky if you're not someone who takes painkillers either, as you're trying to push through something so hard. I've heard Epsom salts baths are good for nether region pain (and from memory when I had SPD in pregnancy it did help) so could try those if they're safe? I really hope the counsellor is someone you click with - hopefully some space to talk will offer a bit of relief x

DaisyMay25 · 04/03/2018 19:49

@Kate8989 you'd think them saying it doesn't look right sound mean they'd hurry up getting you a scan! If you're still feeling this bad tomorrow I'd go back with your concerns and ask if there's any painkillers you can take along side the antibiotics. I'm alright thanks, still getting pains just hoping for some answers next week x

Kate8989 · 04/03/2018 21:01

@DaisyMay25 it’s such a long drawn out process isn’t it. I’ve been looking for reassurance on “Dr Google” and making myself think I should be over all this by now, but actually we’re all individual & unfortunately it takes some longer than others. I’m reading about women who try to conceive straight after the MC and I think gosh I’m so not there yet. I couldn’t imagine it right now. The pains are awful and I’m not sure about you but they’re a constant reminder of the MC xx

@kate8989
Sorry took so long to respond. I was lucky and all tests came back ok and while I was waiting for them, the bleeding stopped and I had the first negative pregnancy test so I think I must have just been getting rid of the last of it. The pains have also settled although I have been very up and down with mood. Sone days I feel fine but other just really angry and with a very short fuse. I don’t think I’m ready to decide what to do yet next!
I hope you get the pain sorted out soon!

Kate8989 · 06/03/2018 15:30

SOOOOO an update! My pain got bad this morning so I went to A&E, told me to go and have a full gyno check up at local sexual health clinic. They did swabs, internals, blood tests- you name it! And NOTHING was found. They got the scan up I had a few weeks ago after MC, said ovaries and womb all perfect!!!! I’m now waiting for another ultrasound to see if anything has changed since my last one. It’s so frustrating- I’ve had this random pain since MC but nobody knows why. I’m so miserable, sorry for the rant 😢

OP posts:
kaytees · 06/03/2018 16:31

@Kate8989 no need to apologise, sounds like you need a rant (and maybe a lot of wine too). How totally frustrating that they can't find anything, and you must be exhausted after all those tests x

Kate8989 · 06/03/2018 16:39

@kaytees bless you for replying thanks so much! Yes I’m absolutelty exhausted!! Im kind of disappointed they didn’t find anything in a weird kinda way. I’m under a LOT of stress at the moment (not just with MC) so I’m wondering if it is my bowel. I confess I’m also eating very bad (lots and lots of crisps!!!) so who knows?
How are you? Xx

OP posts:
kaytees · 06/03/2018 17:48

@Kate8989 yeah I can imagine you would feel a bit miffed that nothing showed up after you'd been poked and prodded! Do they have any idea when they'll do the ultrasound? Hard not to comfort eat when stressed and in pain.. the McDonald's delivery is calling my name today! I'm alright yeah, still testing opks every day and getting nothing so hanging out for more tests on Friday and then hopefully some answers x

Kate8989 · 06/03/2018 20:29

@kaytees- no idea when the ultrasound will be, but I don’t have hopes of that showing anything to be honest. It’s just such a random pain, can come on literally anytime then bugger off for a good part of the day! Did they say what could be causing your pain? X

OP posts:
kaytees · 07/03/2018 08:37

@Kate8989 I think the unpredictability of such pain would be so tiring - with mine one minute everything's ok then you have to stop what you're doing and just be still. The inconsistency is driving me mad! Docs haven't said but I suspect cysts or similar. In the meantime I shall continue to POAS and hope the vague lines I got mid cycle were actually positive opks...

Kate8989 · 07/03/2018 08:53

@kaytees that’s exactly how mine is. I will be ok, then suddenly will come on and stop me in my tracks. Grrrr the joys of being a women hey! I have even contacted a private hospital to see if I can have a consultation with a gynaecologist. So will see if I here from them today x

OP posts:
kaytees · 07/03/2018 18:18

@Kate8989 yeah I'm thinking I'll have to look into private checks too if I don't get some answers soon. Keep us posted with how you get on x

Kate8989 · 07/03/2018 19:23

@DaisyMay25 how you feeling? X

OP posts:
DaisyMay25 · 07/03/2018 19:50

@Kate8989 I'm alright, pretty annoyed that AF turned up four days early and was horrendous, took enough pain killers to make me drowsy though so I could sleep. Hopefully my scan on Monday will have some answers. I'm sorry more tests haven't had answers for you so far though. Pineapple is a natural anti inflammatory so maybe that will help? You feeling any better at all?

Kate8989 · 07/03/2018 20:05

@DaisyMay25 oh no! I’m sorry to hear you’ve had a horrible period 😢. Which painkillers do you take? I’ve been taking ibruprofen but I remember you saying you can’t take those. I have an appontment with a gynaecologist next Tuesday so shall see what they say. I’m so fed up, this pain is a daily grind...... x

OP posts:
DaisyMay25 · 07/03/2018 20:16

@Kate8989 I take codeine, it's the only thing that helps. Hopefully they'll have some answers, they doing a scan for you or just more internal looks? Have you been signed off work with it? x

Kate8989 · 07/03/2018 20:26

I’m just going for a chat really. I had an internal check up yesterday (not vaginal ultrasound) but they couldn’t find anything. It’s so annoying. I might have to get some codeine, nurofen isn’t really touching it. These pains are such a mystery aren’t they? I never had this before the MC, the odd twinge and pain yes but NOTHING like this. Im still working at the moment, but all this pain is really effecting me x
