When to come off the Pill?

We want to start TTC in October after we're married but I'm unsure when I should come off the Pill. I've been on various pills for the past 10 years.
I want to come off before the wedding as I'd like to start tracking my cycles beforehand as I want to have a clear idea of when I'm ovulating.
But I'm not entirely sure as to how soon to come off it.
I'd prefer not to come off it too soon as don't want to be heavily pregnant at the wedding. However, I want it completely out of my system before TTC.

How soon before TTC did you come off the pill?

TIA.

Honestly? Come off that pill now! It took 4 months for my periods to come back after stopping Cerelle. And I went into TTC (like most) with the rose-tinted mindset of getting pregnant the second I came off the pill. And whilst it does happen for some, it cannot be relied on.
My advice would be to come off, track your periods but use condoms if you're not ready to TTC. And take folic acid every day from the day you come off the pill to get your body ready for TTC x

Thank you for your reply!
I'm slightly concerned about our fertility to begin with. I've always had a gut feeling that it might not happen for me and DH2B has got a problem which "may or may not" affect his fertility (according to the doctors).
I don't want to waste time after we get married with the pill possibly being still in my system.
DP has told me to book a doctors appointment but I've done lots of research online and it just seems like pot luck to me as to when it happens.

I'm in a similar position and I'm planning on coming off it next month and using condoms until we are ready. I want my body to be as ready as possible with periods back to 'normal' etc. I have already started taking conception vitamins that contain folic acid.

I came off my pill in January and conceived in September. I know friends who have taken longer again. And then one or two who were surprised to conceive straight away. Really is the luck of the draw xxx best of luck hopefully everything works out Smile

I came off mine after 12 years and fell pregnant straight away. I was surprised this happened and like people say it's the luck of the draw

I was on BC for 10 years, stopped it on Valentine's Day and took a positive pregnancy test in the April. You can get pregnant missing one single pill.

DH was floored by the positive test because he had been told by a workmate that "it'll take a good 6 months to a year"

It took a couple of weeks.

Our next three children were the same by the way. Pretty much immediate pregnancy after stopping BC.

I was on the pill 18 years and my parents had to have fertility treatment to conceive me so I was convinced we would struggle to conceive.

I followed the supplement and some of the diet guidance from an article on the Holy Kale about coming off birth control. Got back from Honeymoon, came off the pill and I miraculously conceived in my first month off BC (mid thirties).

I had been told it would take 6 months to two years.

Good luck and definitely take folic acid 3 months before you start trying.

I would come off as soon as you can I’ve been off mine since October and my cycles are still all over the place. Just be careful at the correct times or use condoms. I really regret putting off stopping it, I just thought it would happen (rose tinted glasses - perfect world). Good luck and enjoy your wedding :) x
