When to take the progesterone?

I have been prescribed progesterone pessaries to take after ovulation following two miscarriages. I have a long ish and slightly irregular cycle between 32 and 36 days and a short luteal phase usually around 11-12 days. The consultant said to take the progesterone from day 21 as I would definitely have ovulated by then but last cycle I think I ovulated day 22. I've been using OPKs and had a positive in Friday and now another positive this morning day 20 so don't know if I will have ovulated by tomorrow or not.

Should I just take the progesterone anyway or wait until I know I have actually ovulated?

Hi,

The advice I was given was to take it from the day after you ovulate (which for me was around cd 15) through till AF is due. I was told to do a pregnancy test each month and if bfn then stop the pessaries but if BFP then continue.

Month 1 we were late starting so I took from cd 21 (but bear in mind I would have ovulated 7 days before) and got a bfn.

Month 2 I used them as advised and got a BFP (after a year ttc). I then continued to use them up to just over 12 weeks.

I'd try and go with starting them the day after you ovulate and then for the rest of that cycle. Good luck.

Thank you that's really helpful I'll hold off until after ovulation.
