Zika Question

Hi,

My partner and I are starting TTC. He travels for work and visits countries that are on the moderate/high risk for zika. I've just read that after visiting these countries he shouldn't TTC for 6 months. As he always travels we'd never be able to try but we're obviously worried about the risk! I'm booked in to the doctors in a few weeks but just wondering if anyone had any experience of this or know how to get around it? Can doctors provide blood test upon his return?

He can be tested but it's not cheap! Couple of hundred pounds I think!

Testing isn’t that effective. The blood test only picks up about half of cases and the urine test is a little more accurate at 60% ish.
There is no way around it I’m afraid - if he’s travelling to these places there’s a risk of exposure and if he is exposed and develops Zika you will be exposed too.
