Ovulation after miscarriage. HELP!!!

Hi
I’m not really sure what Answers I’m looking for but I had a long drawn out miscarriage where I bled for 2 weeks, then had medical management which didn’t work but then passed the sac naturally 5 days later around the 27th Jan.
The bleeding slowed almost immediately after losing the sac and came to a stop on the 2nd Feb.
But I have no idea when to expect to ovulate again or have my next period.
I’ve been testing my HCG is falling by using pregnancy tests like the doctor asked. I’ve been doing them roughly every 4 days. The lines were getting fainter. But I’ve tested today - 4 days after the last one and it’s not much lighter at all.
It’s now been 3 weeks since I roughly lost the Sac.
Should my HCG be back to zero by now.
My husband and I have been having unprotected sex but surely I can’t be pregnanct again.
Can you ovulate whilst your HCG is still high.

I'd be getting in touch with doctor/epu to make sure your MC was fully successful and there's no tissue left and even for blood tests. You need to know exactly what's happening. I had a MC last month around 3 weeks ago my ovulation tests are all over the place seem to be having multiple surges. pregnancy test went clear very quickly for me. Hope all is ok and good luck xx

MagicalCreatures · 16/02/2018 12:02

Well when I had the last scan she confirmed that there was only 5mm worth of pregnancy tissue left in the uterus and that anything under 11mm was classed as a complete and I’m pretty sure I then lost that little bit a day later.
And like I said the pregnancy tests were clearly getting lighter.
Are you saying you had lots of surges of ovulating after because I have been having pains similar to what I did when i ovulated before but I didn’t think it was possible when my HCG is still high. I’m so confused. Thankyou for replying x

Sounds similar to what happened to me. Yeah I've had alot of dark ovulation tests, id say 3 could be positive but they were days apart how fun. Had cramps for last week and a half just feel achy even my pelvis aches x

How weird. And you miscarried around the same time as me too. Though I read that ovulation tests can detect HCG and give a positive like a pregnancy test. I tested this theory a week after I miscarried and got a strong positive ovulation test as well as pregnancy test x

I know will keep Dtd just incase. My pregnancy tests are completely negative have been for a good while, they faded pretty quickly for me x

MagicalCreatures · 16/02/2018 18:14

I’m gonna do another test Sunday and if it’s still positive then I’ll call EPU. By Sunday it will definitely be 3 weeks - if not, a few days more - since I lost the sac. So weird Confused

Yeah I would defo give them a call. How's your stomach? I've had cramps for over a week and half now atleast bareable but defo a feeling I've never felt before just a constant niggle/ache in my back too. Weird x

Lisalou88 · 16/02/2018 19:02

Hi I would defo call epu if you are still getting a positive test. I had a natural miscarriage and passed the sac on 25th Jan, I took a pregnancy test 2 weeks later and it was negative. Im pretty sure I’ve not ovulated since but I’ve not being using ovulation sticks as waiting till I get my first period. It’s just so annoying when you don’t know what your body is doing x

MagicalCreatures · 16/02/2018 23:10

xLeanne128
I’ve been having ovulation like cramps for about a week. On and off on one side, then the other.
But I’m too scared to admit that they also feel very similar to the pains I had in the very early stages of my last pregnancy.

Lisalou88
I will definitely call EPU if the test shows positive still on Sunday. How many weeks were you when you miscarried on the 25th. And do you know how high your HCG was at its highest point

I had a miscarriage, but had a D&C so not quite the same situation. I was waiting and waiting for my first period after the mc with all the usual heavy pms symptoms but it just didn't turn up. I eventually took a pregnancy test 'just in case' and to my shock and surprise there was a strong blue line and I went on to have a healthy baby boy. Fingers crossed for you op x

MagicalCreatures · 18/02/2018 09:45

SWCharlie
That’s a lovely story. It’s so good to hear things that give us hope.
Do you have any idea how quickly tour HCG fell though or if it was back to normal by the time you ovulated?
I did another test this morning and it is abit lighter but still positive. And still stronger then when I got my first faint positive with the pregnancy. I’ll try and upload a pic.

Are you still getting positive tests after mc? X

MagicalCreatures · 18/02/2018 11:55

Yes Hun. Though this mornings one was lighter. I attached a photo above. HCG is obviously going down but slowly

I'd ring EPU and just explain all that's going on xx

HidCat · 18/02/2018 13:49

I'd get in touch with your epu and ask for an hcg test. I had my miscarriage at the end of January too - spotting from 18th Jan and confirmed 25th. I've had hcg tests every week since and this week was still at 400 so it's possible you've still got hcg in your system which will affect both pregnancy tests and ovulation tests. Sorry you're going through this too.

MagicalCreatures · 18/02/2018 13:50

Yeh I will be doing that I think. The cramps that I’ve been having haven’t stopped for 2 weeks now. And like I said before, they’re similar to what I had when I ovulated and in the first few weeks of my pregnancy but I’m sure that if I was pregnancy again that the tests wouldn’t be fading still the way that they are. I’m so confused. The human body is a complicated thing x

OP posts:
xLeanne128 · 18/02/2018 13:53

I think I'm having the same cramps as you but my pregnancy tests are stark white. I'd defo ring them atleast then you'll know what's normal/what's not and be able to sort if anything needs sorting. Yes our bodies really are mysteries. Seen it and heard it a million times but really had no idea how difficult it would be to conceive but then keep hold of the little bean!!

MagicalCreatures · 18/02/2018 13:58

Hi HidCat
Thankyou for getting in touch. I will be ringing EPU tomorrow.
You miscarried around the same time as me too. Mine was confirmed a few days later. So your HCG is taking a while to come down as well then. I have read about some women’s taking up to 6 weeks.

MagicalCreatures · 18/02/2018 14:01

xLeanne128
I know, I can’t believe just how common miscarriages can be and how many women go through it. It doesn’t make it any easier to accept though. Especially when everyone around you seems to be announcing theirs when you know you should be announcing yours.
I just want to get on and try again, now that I feel ready too but clearly my body isn’t.

OP posts:
SWCharlie · 18/02/2018 23:12

No I have no idea how my hcg levels were after my miscarriage, I don't think anyone recommended I check them so I didn't. I did wonder if the positive test was residue pregnancy hormones but it was very strong and blue. There is some scientific evidence to say you are more fertile for a couple of months after a miscarriage, I am crossing everything for you ladies!

MagicalCreatures · 19/02/2018 18:10

EPU have left me a message to say they want me in at 12pm tomorrow. I’ll let you know how I get on x

OP posts:
HidCat · 19/02/2018 18:30

@MagicalCreatures good luck. I'll be on 5 weeks since spotting started on Thursday and also have EPU tomorrow. I'd ask for a blood test even if they don't think it necessary so you can get an idea of where you are.

xLeanne128 · 20/02/2018 13:36

How are you @magicalcreatures? Hope you are getting some answers xx

MagicalCreatures · 20/02/2018 15:33

Hi girls.
It’s not good unfortunately. It seems to be one thing after the other at the moment. Like taking one step forward and being pushed two steps back.
They said that yes, my hormones should be back to normal by now so they did a scan. And they are concerned because now they have found something that looks like either left over pregnancy tissue or polyps. I have to go back tomorrow to see a specialist.
I’m now more concerned because she said we shouldn’t have been having unprotected sex until I got a negative pregnancy test result. I’m scared now that what if I have ovulated and that little egg is on its way down and now there going to have to either do a D and C or try and remove the polyps. I just can’t believe my luck. I said I didn’t think I would ovulate if I’m still ‘pregnant’ as such and she said it has been known to happen.
I can’t believe this is happening Sad
