Use a child's thermometer for temping?

I want to start temping but before I go ahead and buy one can I just use a child's thermometer? Aren't they the same thing? Its a child's pen digital thermometer.

I don’t think they’re accurate or specific enough.

You need one that goes to 2 decimal places to get an accurate enough temp to chart as you're looking for relatively small shifts in temperature. BBT thermometers can be bought fairly cheaply on places like Amazon.

Not accurate enough. Also you need one that beeps when it’s done as you cannot re-take the temp. They’re v cheap on amazon anyway. Like £4. Often come with OPK strips and a paper chart.
