Hi All,

I stopped the Cerazette pill 6 weeks ago and I still don't have a period. I am also TTC and this is now beginning to get frustrating and upsetting.
I have contacted the doctors and was advised to wait another 2 weeks.
Anyone had this same problem and Has any one any advice on how to help AF start?

Think it took a couple of months for me to get a proper period. Then conceived straight away!
I think it can take up to 6 months though so try to be patient. Good luck with the ttc

I just seem to always have a lot of EWCM(tmi) and negative OPK tests, and still no AF, I have done 4 pg tests over the past few weeks and all have been negative!
Seems most people get their's around 4-6 weeks and I have a feeling I will have nothing for months Sad

Thank you!

HI Tinker, it’s completelt frustrating and upsetting but try to hang on in there! The pill suppresses your natural hormone cycles and replaced them with a constant supply so it can take a while for your body to wake up and remember how to manage itself again!

I think my first cycle off the pill was 58 days and 11 months on they are still irregular and I’m not ovulating every month. That said, plenty of women on here get pregnant first month off the pill and there seems to be no rhyme or reason as to why some people take longer than others!

Try not to let it get you down and I hope they come back soon for you xx

Mol1628 · 05/02/2018 13:02

It took me 5 months to ovulate and I got pregnant straight away so didn’t have a period at all.
No advice really you just have to be patient.

Tinker315b · 05/02/2018 13:13

@Miserablemouse Thank you! Im also angry that no doctor felt the need to tell me this, I was only on Cerazette for a year and half, wish I hadn't have bothered at all. Never ever again will I go back on it, I was always used to having regular cycles!

You have gave me some hope still, if yours took 58 days. x

Tinker315b · 05/02/2018 13:15

@Mol1628 Oh yours is a completely different story!
Were you also on Cerazette?

Some days I think right that's it no more ovulation tests and no more worrying, it will come when it comes. Then days like today I am researching for anything to try and help!

Yes I was on cerazette for about two years, and another brand pill a few years before that. So I had been on contraception a long time.

Miserablemouse · 05/02/2018 13:25

Makes me angry too! I was on the pill for 10 years after being out on it at 16 for acne and at no point did any doctor mention that it can take a while for your cycles to sort out after you come off, not even when u was seeing them for referrals to the genetics team because we were planning to start trying 6 months later (I have a known hereditary genetic condition so wanted to get the ball rolling as testing has advanced so much since I was last spoken to about it). You’d have thought that might be the in for “you do know it can take a year to get regular cycles back don’t you?” But no!

I will also never be going back on it. Good luck for a period (or even better, BFP!) soon xx

Tinker315b · 05/02/2018 14:07

I know, before Cerazette I was on ovranette then stopped it and had a break between it and starting Cerazette, I was on the pill from 15/16 because of painful periods, and as you say not once was it ever mentioned about cycles when stopping!

Yes exactly! Then they have the cheek to shrug you off and tell you to just wait. Thank you very much @Miserablemouse xx

I know friends who have taken ages to get back in to a regular cycle since coming off all types of hormonal contraception. It's a risk of all of them, not just cerezette. Hopefully you will get a period soon. Some people do get regular straight away and there is no way of knowing which group you'll be in.

Tinker315b · 05/02/2018 15:23

Yes @awankstainonhumanity unfortunately the doctors don't fill you in on that useful information when prescribing it to you!

By the looks of it im in the waiting group! Thank you, I hope I get it soon too!

Hold on in there, op, I know it sounds easy enough for me to say but in the summer I was having the exact same thoughts as you - I loved not having periods for ten years on cerazette and all of a sudden I was worried they’d never come back. It took 3 months for the first one. Hold on!

Tinker315b · 05/02/2018 18:37

Thank you! That gives me hope and has relaxed me a bit that you are all saying the same. Fingers crossed it doesn’t take too much longer!

I stopped taking it at the start of August and just got my periods back mid-Jan, SO frustrating. Went to the GP about it in Dec and she said it's totally normal for it to take that long. Wish they'd printed that in massive letters on the box!

Tinker315b · 06/02/2018 12:05

@TillyTheTiger I know, I think its unfair, but having forums like this will maybe help people deciding wether to go on the pill or not!

If I have no AF by next week I have to go to the doctors for blood tests.

SunshineAndRainbows6 · 06/02/2018 14:00

Hey @Tinker,

Totally understand your pain! I was on Cerrelle for 3 years with no periods and stopped mid Dec last year... had a 2 day withdrawal bleed over Christmas time and then it took 35 days for my first proper period.... had all the symptoms of it but nothing! Felt bloody awful... have just finished and feel so so much better and more relaxed!

Don't panic too much it will come 💁🏻 Fingers crossed for a period or BFP for you soon! 😊

GraceHelen · 06/02/2018 14:10

I was on cerazette for 10 years. Stopped it with aim of ttc. Was exactly 8 weeks to the day of stopping it AF started. Was worried after 13 years on a pill 10 on cerazette that it could be a long journey but i conceived on cycle 4 after first AF.

Good Luck x

Tinker315b · 06/02/2018 15:29

Aw thank you girls Smile Glad I now put this post up!
Today has been day 38 and nothing yet, I also have symptoms today and yesterday slight cramps so fingers crossed, I would be happy to wait another 2 weeks if there was a way off telling AF will definitely arrive lol. Good to hear stories of other peoples waits! xx

I got pregnant after coming off cerazette without having a period.

SunshineAndRainbows6 · 06/02/2018 16:30

It will come soon hopefully @Tinker!

Honestly for the past 2 weeks I've had every symptom under the sun... I was convinced it my period was going to start any second or I was pregnant! It was the worst... Heavy boobs, bloating, cramps, nipples which I could only describe felt like they had been grated with a cheese grater and I was such a grump cowbag to my DH 😂 So bad.... 🙈 But since AF I've felt much more myself!

Sending you lots of luck and baby dust! 👶🏻

Tinker315b · 06/02/2018 20:06

@user1483387154 Definately don’t think I’m pregnant, I’ve done countless pg tests and each one has been a BFN! And it would be showing on the test by now.

OP posts:
Tinker315b · 06/02/2018 20:08

@SunshineAndRainbows6 I know that’s how I have been all day, I’ve been very crampy and constantly going to the bathroom to check myself! When AF shows I’ll be wishing it gone again lol.. I’ve been a moody cow this week! So for everyone’s good I hope it goes very soon! X
