Ovulation confusion? Weird bleed?

Hello! I'm trying to get some help understanding what on earth is going on with my body right now. Hubby and I have only recently started ttc. In December I started using opk and got a positive one on evening of 30/morning of 31st (CD 19/20)
Flash forward to 12th of January I start getting a bleed - thought it would be the start of my period - but the next day I had really light spotting and then nothing. Really weird for me as I usually have 5 day long periods. I thought might be implantation bleed? But all pregnancy tests have been negative.
So I have started testing for ovulation again - started on the 26th of this month and so far all negative opks!
Do ovulation days differ a lot? Or could I just not be ovulating this month - but did last month! I'm so confused as to what's going on!!
I used to have irregular periods 6 years ago before on the pill - but have been having regular ones for past 5 months since coming off!

Ovulation days can vary. The phase from the start of your period to ovulation can be affected by stress or illness etc, but the phase from ovulation to your period is generally fixed.

If you missed your period apart from that bleed, it could be that despite the surge, you just didn't ovulate for some reason. This used to happen to me maybe once a year for no apparent reason and i'd have weeks and weeks between periods.

My advice would be to keep OPKing daily and keeping an eye on CM etc. At least then you know you haven't missed it! Good luckf

Thanks for replying! I'm checking the opk test twice a day - as I nearly missed the surge last cycle!
I suffer with quite bad anxiety so I really stress over any little thing that might appear to be going wrong!

TTC is really difficult with all the unknowns. Wouldn't it be wonderful to have a little countdown timer to ovulation? I was obsessed with the OPKs too. I read a lot of people on here saying they found them stressful, but for me it was the opposite. I liked to know was was going on in there as much as i could!

Hopefully this is just a one off wierd cycle and then you're back to normal!
