Light period on pill

Hello,

Apologies if this is in the wrong spot but was hoping someone could offer some insight!

Last November I went off the pill after having been on it for several years, had the usual withdrawal bleed after. In Jan I met a new partner but still hadnt had a natural period yet (normal for my periods to take ages to come back after coming off the pill). We used condoms without any issues for a few weeks, I went back on the pill and then starting having sex without condoms after 2+ weeks of taking the pill, so way after the recommended time period of using secondary protection before the pill kicks in. This week was my first withdrawal week since being on the pill again and I've only had very light spotting. I'm not sure what's going on to be honest, anyone have any insight? I had all the other normal period symptoms I get like cramps, gut disturbances, food cravings and grumpiness.

My gut feeling is I've just buggered my hormones/cycle up by not waiting for my natural period to return before going back on the pill but part of me worries. I find it extremely unlikely I'm pregnant as we used condoms and I doubt I had even started ovulating again before going back onto the pill but I guess it could happen...?

Should I just wait it out until my next withdrawal cycle and see if things have sorted themselves out then?

Thanks for any advice!!

Hi sweet,

What type of pill are you on? I was on Cerazette and my 'periods' were always very light (some were literally just a bit of pink on the toilet paper!) and only lasted a handful of days. My Dr told me this was completely normal especially for the mini pill as most don't even have anything at all. When I came off it for the first time early last year they went back to being full normal periods quite soon but they definitely can take longer than normal to return when you stop taking so don't worry if you didn't have a normal period straight away.

Get some reassurance from your Dr if you continue to worry. It made me feel 10x better :) xx

Hi,

Honestly can't even remember what pill I'm on it's been so long taking it I forget! I usually bleed for 2 days and then maybe 2 day spotting but it's always very obviously a period. Since my post though I've started bleeding more (still not as much as normal though) so I guess it's all fine!

Yeah you sound like I was :) feels unnatural not to have a proper period doesn't it but everything returned to normal when I stopped so try not to worry. I was the same that's why I saw my Dr but he said all fine and normal! Enjoy it haha
