Is ovulation spotting a thing?

Has anybody had ovulation bleeding? Or is it like “implantation bleeding” which seems to exist in theory within Mumsnet, but nobody in real life ever seems to have actually had!?

Basically I had a positive opk on Monday (cd16) plus lots of ewcm on Monday and Tuesday. Dtd both those days, obvs. Then this morning (Wednesday) had a big blob of cm/possibly left over swimmers with a streak of red blood through it. It was almost like a string of blood, if that makes sense? Could this be ovulation related? Or maybe irritation from vigorous shagging?

Never had anything like this before and trying not to freak out........

Ok ladies so I’m ttc for 8 months now & having irregular periods I recently been taking seven seas vitamins and this month started using ovulation test strips on the day I was ment to ovulate and 2 days prior I had 2 lines not too dark tho but day of ovulation I had 2 bold lines so me and oh done the baby dance ... it is now 4 days Past ovulation and I’m having brown/pink tinge cervical mucus when I wipe what could be causing this my period shouldn’t be due for 11 days ...

Justwaitingforaline · 31/01/2018 15:20

I occasionally get ovulation bleeding. It’s a streak of blood in EWCM

Kirstylee95 · 31/01/2018 15:36

Justwaitingforaline ... It started last night and is still today I took ovulation test strip today & only one line so do you still think it could possibly be ovulation bleeding

Owlpatrol · 31/01/2018 23:18

Yes it's a thing but I've only had it once in a year! Mine was actual blood not enough for a pad and I noticed after doing a lot of exercise then changed knickers and that was all I had. It was actual blood mixed with some cm the day after a positive opk

Kirstylee95 · 01/02/2018 08:00

@Owlpatrol today my blood tinge cervical mucus is nowhere to be seen and I did do 2 ovulation test strips yesterday to see if it could be ovulation bleeding but they both come back negative my
Body loves doing strange things I guess and the waiting game is so annoying 🙄 only time will tell xx

I've heard that it is a thing. I don't think I've ever had it though. I was starting to think I was abnormal or something!

MonkeyToucher · 01/02/2018 17:21

It’s just so weird when random things happen one cycle that have never happened before. My cm is brown tinged today so no idea what’s going on....

@MonkeyToucher mine has been the same for two days but not heavy enough for a pad or anything as it's only when I wipe and not everytine I wipe

I had a phase of having ovulation bleeding each month while ttc. My friend who's a midwife told me it's a good sign of healthy ovulation. And we conceived not long after. Don't worry about it it's normal.

ffauxlivia · 02/02/2018 12:02

This started for me 5 years ago and I get it most cycles. Just blood in ewcm when I wipe for a couple of days around ovulation time. Not heavily enough for a pad but sometimes can be quite a lot

I have endometriosis, and my gynaecologist said that the spotting was likely due to that other than ovulation spotting, which would be a tiny one- off streak. He said it's caused by hormones being out of balance I think.

MonkeyToucher · 02/02/2018 12:57

This was definitely a little streak, rather than “bleeding”. Not spotting either as such. What are the other signs of endometriosis ffauvlivia out of interest?

That does sound like it could be ovulation spotting then! I wouldn't worry about it.

For info, people can have lots of symptoms with endo or none at all, it really varies. But the most common ones are ridiculously painful periods and pain after/during sex. There can be lots of other things too, but severe pain should definitely be investigated. It took me 10 years to get diagnosed despite having every symptom Sad

My bleeding that was mixed with cervical mucus is a mystery I think it only lasted 2 days and was light not enough to wear a pad brownish/pinkish but was 4dpo
