Ov strips darker than usual, preg sign?

I have only used them one month properly before, but I noticed before and after ov the line was a lot fainter, I did one about 5 days and 7 days post ov and although they are not positive, the line is a lot darker. I was looking back at the strips from the month I used them and the lines are so faint straight after ov and even more so a week later.

Could this be a early pregnancy sign or just doesn't mean anything? Are your ov strips very faint after ov ? I am only 7 days post ov so too early to do a pregnancy test

Ov tests look for a different hormone than pregnancy tests so it cannot be used as a Preg test. If they are getting dark again I would think that you didn’t ovulate when you think you did and you are about too now.

No because I got a positive when I expected to ov

I wouldn’t count on anything to be honest. Just wait until your period is due and test

Bubblegum89 · 29/01/2018 19:32

You always have LH in your system (the hormone detected by opks) so 90% of the time, you will get some form of second line. You don’t always ovulate on the exact same day every month even with regular cycles. At 7dpo it’s too early for anything to show up. Opks can pick up HCG but it’s not very reliable so it’s not recommended (due to LH always being present) you would have to be at the stage of getting a positive pregnancy test to start picking up HCG on an opk.

I can't say what is going on for you but in both my pregnancies the OV test showed up as a very dark line when I was due on my period - that's how I knew.

Sorry pressed post too soon...

Meant to say that was later than you though as it was more like 14dpo..

I'm having the same questions too. Two days in a row with very dark lines. Thinking of taking a pg test tomorrow. Nervous!

CuppaSarah · 29/01/2018 19:47

Sometimes you have two surges close together, which means you ovulated twice. It's very very rare, but some women end up with twins this way. Obviously this is anecdotal evidence I've heard from pregnant women, so might not be totally accurate. But I've spoken to a few women who had two peaks and ended up with twins

Katjolo · 29/01/2018 20:14

@CuppaSarah, interesting. I never knew this. So two dark lines twice in a row is rare? I am so new to this and have no idea.

@Katjolo When you say you've had two very dark lines two days running, do you mean where the test line is as dark or darker than the control line?

In some cases, you can have a positive OPK but for whatever reason, your body doesn't release the egg, resulting in another hormone surge showing another positive OPK resulting in ovulation the second time round. I would respectfully suggest this is much more likely than ovulation twice in one cycle.

You won't get a positive pregnancy test result (if you're pregnant, of course!) unless you're at least 9 or 10 days post ovulation and then using a First Response Early Result test.

Best of luck for the result you want!

Got a positive today. 2-3 weeks. Good luck to everyone 🙂

Glitterandunicorns · 30/01/2018 18:03

Congratulations @Katjolo! Thanks

Thank you so much
