Opks as hpts??

So has anyone used an opk as a hpt. I'm 7-8 days late today took a test today but was negative thought I saw the faintest line but think it was my eyes.

Anyway i had 4 drinks and after an hour i was busting for a wee and has some opks In the cupboard and with my period been 7-8 days late thought what the hell and the 2nd line was just a little lighter than the line that always appears.
Still no period in sight at all I'm on cycle day 38 of a 30 day cycle. My last period was 23rd dec (i had brown spotting on and off from 2nd-9th january was dark brown old blood and was only the size i would say of a 10p). I went to docs and she said this was just old blood leaving my body xx

If you've already tested, and got a negative, it seems unlikely that you're pregnant.

I know. I'm just never late ever. When i took the test this morning it wasn't fmu and I took it after having 2 coffee' s and a bottle of water xx

Ovulation tests are not pregnancy tests!

Getting 2 lines on an ovulation test means nothing as you always have some LH in your system.

If the pregnancy test is negative when your 7 days late then sadly it does not look like your pregnant.

AF can be late for all sorts of reasons and is very common. You should see your gp if your worried.

Not a good idea. You can have an LH surge before AF arrives. I learnt this the hardway a few months back after getting way too excited having a positive opk one day before af was due (had done a frer which was bfn). Af turned up on time the next day.

I also used one around 3 days after getting a bfp on a frer just out of interest, and even then, while the second line was strong, it wasn't strong enough that it would of been classed as positive if I'd been checking for ovulation. So I think you need a good amount of hcg to get a positive pregnancy result on them.
