Scared

So had a MMC in June. I'm 39. I have noticed my last 2/3 periods have been a lot lighter. Still lasting the same time, but just not as much flow.
I've now read Dr Google and have scared the shit out of myself. Everything from scarring after my erpc which can lead to infertility to menopause.
Can anyone who has had an erpc put my mind at ease? We have had no luck conceiving since I was given the all clear in July. Have planned to see the doctor again in mid February....the joy of half term holidays!

Hi,

So sorry to hear about your MMC. I had a MMC in April 2016 and had an ERPC. I then fell pregnant 3 cycles later but that sadly ended in a tfmr. I noticed my periods were lighter and was worried about early menopause as my mum went through menopause early. My gp did the day 2/3 and day 21 tests and could tell from levels that it wasn't menopause. My progesterone was low though. I ended up using progesterone supplements and then fell pregnant again shortly afterwards. Now 20 weeks.

It's probably nothing to worry about - my GP said she'd be more concerned about very irregular periods rather than duration or flow - but might be worth asking your gp when you see them if they'd be prepared to do some hormone tests for you.

Hope all goes well x

That's a bit of a relief, thank you Welsh. My periods are bang on, practically to the minute, three weeks and 3 days. So sorry to hear about your MMC and tfmr. It's so difficult. My due date was 2 weeks ago. Can't help but wonder what if. Glad all is going well for you now.

I had an erpc for an mmc in 2010 during which they lacerated my cervix. I had DD in 2011. I also had another erpc in 2016 for retained products after an mc and have since been pregnant twice (one mc and currently 15 weeks). They always mention my lacerated cervix when they do us scans so the scarring in visible.

Sorry you're in the mc club, it really does heighten your anxiety surrounding everything pregnancy-related.
