TTC after Mirena removal

Any positive stories? I’ve managed to convince myself it’s all hopeless and I’m basically bolloxed...

I’m 30 and we are TTC#2 ... #1 is 7 😮 so it’s been a while! If anyone fancies sharing a nice story, or having a chat and a hand hold then come and share!

I conceived twins after mirena removal... BUT... I went straight to a consultant, got hormones level tested, clomid... thought they would tell me to head off and try for a year and come back, but they didn’t, said best not to wait around. 31 when I conceived them.

I’ve had two Mirenas in my past and both times I fell pregnant within 5 weeks of having it removed.

The first was a successful pregnancy but the second one ended in a miscarriage 2 weeks after my BFP.

I fell pregnant 4 weeks after mirena removal, didn't even have a period!

When I got my first coil out after 4yrs with no periods at all I was pregnant within the month. When I got my second coil out after 4yrs with no periods at all it took 6 months to get pregnant. I'm 34 now so maybe that's why it took so long. As far as I'm concerned theres no reason why you shouldn't be able to get pregnant after having a merina. Good luck 🤞

Hopefully those positive stories are reassuring. I had mirena removed in August and like you ttc #2 after a big gap. It's only cycle #3 for us but I'm very nervous this time around as I feel my cycle hasn't returned to normal (very light periods, no obvious CM). Are your periods back to normal? Have your started ttc yet?

MamaL86 · 21/01/2018 17:28

@Dippydodah was that on the NHS or did you have to go privately?

ziggiestardust · 21/01/2018 19:33

mama86 I haven’t had a period yet, but only had Mirena removed last week so I have no idea where my cycle is! We’ve started TTC but tbh until I get my period back it’s probably pretty pointless.

I had my Mirena removed last week and now feel horrible - sore tummy and boobs, random pains, really bloated. I’m assuming this is post Mirena period/crash but like you have no idea what my cycle is doing as haven’t had periods for 4 years!

Dippydodah · 21/01/2018 23:27

I went privately

I conceived in the first month after removal and D&C. I miscarried very early and conceived the following month at the age of 36, ten years after the previous DC.

@ziggiestardust I'll have my fingers crossed for you - you never know, you may be one of the lucky ones who falls pregnant very quickly. My period came back after about 4-5 weeks. First couple were really heavy but now very light. No idea what's going on! I'm very petite so wondering if the hormones are taking longer to leave my system (probably a ridiculous idea of mine!)

MamaL86 · 22/01/2018 09:41

Thanks @Dippydodah. Definitely something to consider. I'm also 31 so don't really want to waste lots of time if there is an issue. Congratulations on your twins Smile

Dancetothebeat32 · 22/01/2018 09:49

When I had my Mireya removed I was just at the beginning of my period, when my period was next due I was 2-3 weeks pregnant Smile

Foreverretro · 22/01/2018 14:25

I'm just at the start of cycle 5 post mirena, I'm 32 and TTC #1.

First cycle was 48 days and ended with a normal (for me pre mirena) period, then since then I've had 2 anovulatory cycles (I'm pretty sure I ovulated in cycle 3) and 3 light periods... so I've told myself I'll temp & have another go this month before I head to the Drs.

Finding it really infuriating and upsetting to talk to anyone about it atm, I'm sure it's just a phase and possibly worse because of AF but still. Doesn't help that I keep being baby bombed from all directions!

I hope that yours is one of the good stories though - best of luck!!
