I had unprotected sex almost three weeks ago when I was ovulating, BUT I took Ella one the following day because my partner doesn't want a baby although I really do. Anyway, I was due on two days ago and my period hasn't come. The only signs I have is white discharge, I don't want to be let down with a test ATM. What do you guys think? Thank you

I’ve only ever taken emergency contraception once, but i was late afterwards by a few days. I’d wait until you’re a week late before testing if you think you’ll be disappointed by a negative result.

It makes your period delayed well it did me I would wait and wouldn't recommend getting pregnant if your boyfriend doesn't want you too!! That's an awful trick to pull.

I've took it a few times (with the same partner) and my period has always been like clock work. But you're right it can make you late.

What contraceptive are you on?? The morning after pill isn't for regular use.

I'm not on any contraception we usually just use condoms, but sometimes we don't and get Ella the next day

Why don't you go on the pill? The morning after pill is not supposed to be for regular use and is also less effective the proper pill,not to mention the drain on the NHS!

Holy moley! Sorry to jump on this post but I'm training to be a nurse and reading that you take emergency contraception regularly has scared me. Just for a heads up, having unprotected sex then taking emergency contraception is riskier than being on regular oral contraception. Basically meaning you're much much more likely to get pregnant taking emergency contraception than you are taking regular contraception. The morning after pill has a much higher dose of hormones - no wonder why it screws up your cycle - plus, it will do very odd things to your blood pressure, putting you at risk of heaps of other nasty issues. I would suggest popping to your doctor and explaining your situation, they're likely to recommend a proper form of contraception. I'm assuming you get the morning after pill on the NHS? Have you thought about how much that's costing? It costs the NHS £14.05 per tablet for EllaOne - I couldn't have that on my conscience when a pack of 63 tablets roughly 3 months costs £5.08! Sorry for the rant. Hope you get something most permanent sorted

I pay for Ella one, I've never had is off the NHS (never knew it was a option either) and it's costs me around £32 each time. I agree it's not the best option. I've had the implant and it destroyed my mental health the only other thing recommended with low hormone dosages are the copper coil. I will be getting this I just plucking up the courage, as I've also heard horror stories about that

I think you need to do a test or wait and see if AF comes. Emergency contraception is not 100% effective so it’s possible you are pregnant.

I’d recommend going to your local family planning or sexual health clinic? Not sure if that’s what they’re called. Someone else might know.

Basically I had to take my 17 year old daughter (she has mild additional needs - therefore I got involved) after a pregnancy scare.

The nurse was so good and kind and patient with her, and gave her good advice. She ended up on the implant which has been fine for her, but you can talk through the options.

There may be a drop in clinic - and they possibly have more time than your GP to talk to you. I got such a shock with my daughters pregnancy scare - I love babies - but it’s a huge decision and life changing or life upsetting and you shouldn’t take these chances lightly.

The solution to your problem is obvious Op.... Take a test. No one on here can guess if your pregnant or not, just take the test and then you can move on one way or the other

I was three weeks late after taking Ella One.

Go there, and they’ll advise you. No point in asking the internet anymore.

If your period was due two days ago a test would be accurate now so definitely take one to put your mind at ease if nothing else.

You've been given really good advice by other posters about long term contraceptives which I would definitely listen to. I hope you get the result you want - good luck.
