Another 'is this a valid line'?

I'm now on CD40 and tested earlier in the week with a negative result.

I got fed up waiting for my period (and suspicious!), so tested this morning with a Boots own brand '5 days early response' test and got this result, read after 3 minutes but before 15.

This is all feeling so surreal, I have endometriosis and PCOS and have been off contraception for a while with nothing happening, so I'm sat here shaking trying to get my head around the fact this might be a positive result?

So... MN jury, could this be a positive?

Is there a tried and tested brand that anyone recommends for a 'confirmation' test? I've read that Clear Blue aren't always that great?!?

Thanks in advance!

I can definitely see a faint line! Congrats :) xx

twobambinos · 18/01/2018 09:43

I can definitely see a line. Doesn't look that faint. Maybe you ovulated late this month.

I got my faint bfp yesterday. I used two cheapie one was positive the other was negative so went and got a first response there was no doubting it and it was middle of the day urine. Clearblue digital are less sensitive so don't be upset if it doesn't show for another few days on them

Thanks everyone, just wanted to check I wasn't seeing things/that it wasn't just an evaporation line! I think I was in shock earlier, and it's still not sinking in...

My cycles are all over the place despite being on metformin and so it's quite possible I ovulated late.

Off to buy a First Response at lunch, then I'll tell DH this evening.

Congratulations twobambinos!

It certainly looks like a line but be cautious about the ‘congrats!’ Just yet only because CD40 would usually indicate a rather dark line.

Good choice getting a different brand of test though, you’re doing the right thing.

Good luck.

Poppins2016 · 18/01/2018 10:30

JustVent, I am nervous for exactly that reason... We last DTD 29th Dec as we were both ill after that and so I assume I ovulated around/just after that... Which means I've had long enough for hormones to develop. I would've liked a darker line, which is partly the reason for doubting myself and posting!

I guess you do hear of successful pregnancies with low hormones/negative tests, so I'm holding onto that. I have been flagged by GP as high risk for miscarriage though, so I'm only tentatively excited and mostly anxious. Fingers crossed it'll stick...

I always found the basic 'strip you dip' ones are the best! Congratulations!

Poppins2016 · 18/01/2018 14:17

Well, the First Response looks a bit more encouraging than the Boots test... And there's no arguing with the digital! I may have gone slightly test crazy at lunch...

Congratulations OP. I don’t think you can set much store by how dark or otherwise the test is- if it’s there it’s there. Stop testing now, take your vitamins and hope for the best!

Poppins2016 · 18/01/2018 14:20

Still sinking in. I've got my hopes up so many times and seen so many negatives...

Thanks all.

Congrats on the bfp, Poppins, and fingers tightly crossed it sticks!! Flowers

Poppins2016 · 18/01/2018 14:23

Good advice.

I'm on pre-conception vitamins, well prepared!

I won't be testing again (clearly no need!) but just needed peace of mind that it wasn't all in my head!

And breathe!

Ohh lovely updates!! They look more positive by the hour!
When I was pregnant I was test mad too after a miscarriage so I used to take the clear blue like every week. I’m sure that is terrible advice as it will make you more anxious but it did actually help me to see it increasing 1-2 2-3 etc.
Anyway absolute best of luck to you. Enjoy telling DH! X

Poppins2016 · 18/01/2018 14:56

Well mama, I did buy a two pack of clear blues... Mostly because it's better value and I was convinced it would be negative so I could use the spare another cycle. Hmm I need to give myself a good talking to!

DH is going to be very happy, but he's out with a friend all evening and I want to tell him in person... I'll need to try to stay awake. Arrgh!

Thanks everyone!

I don't think DH will be home until about 10/11 pm, so I haven't told him yet and I'm still not sure how I'll do it... I suppose I'll probably just show him the tests (or line them up on his pillow as suggested)!
