And if so, what measures are you taking? I am running it like a military operation this month. Sex twice a day on commencing on day 13, fresh pineapple and no booze or coffee. Not going to chart temperature yet though - will save that for next month when I truly will be a woman possessed.

what does pineapple do???!!!

1Wish · 26/04/2007 17:39

just had a hsg x-ray done and alot of women claim to get pregnant straight after, so really going for it this month.

since cd2 been taking cough medicine every two days, evening primrose and starflower oil every day, oh and drinking grapefruit juice most days, which is vile.

Woodmouse · 26/04/2007 17:58

Hello gangle - I'm trying too this month! No booze or caffeine for me, lots of fruit and veg. I am taking multi vitimin every day (generally and for the folic acid) and evening primrose oil. I love grapefruit juice and there is a juice bar round the corner form the office, so i'll definitely be popping in there at lunchtimes. Oh, and BD-ing whenever we can, although DH is off on his travels again so not sure if it will be at the optimum time.

I've heard that pineapple is good too, although I have no idea of the scientific basis for why it is suposed to help conception.

i think the only other thing to do is relax and be good to yourself

PinkElephant · 26/04/2007 18:13

Gangle - Twice a day up to when...yikes you'll be knackered. Every other day for us is more than enough!! Taking folic acid, eating grapefruit every day up to ovulation, drinking decaff coffe/tea, reducing alcohol, tried pineapple after ovulation. May take EPO next month up to ovulation if no success this month

1wish - I too had an HSG done this last month so fingers crossed. Have a feeling I won't be one of the lucky ones who get preggers that quick. Had lots of cramps during and after ovulation this month, I must be a bit inflammed after the HSG. Good luck

1Wish · 26/04/2007 18:20

Think positive pink elephant, i know its hard when you've been trying a while. What are they doing for you next?

Hopefully il get some clomid at my next appointment

Gangle · 26/04/2007 18:53

1wish, what is a hsg x-ray and what does cough medicine and those oils do?

OP posts:
1Wish · 26/04/2007 19:01

Gangle- a hsg x-ray is where they flush a dye through your tubes to check for blockages, because the dye shows up on the x-ray. Its often the 1st point of call when you get referred to a fertility specialist.

The other stuff according to fellow ttc'ers helps produce good quality cervical mucus and thus aid conception.

PinkElephant · 26/04/2007 19:09

1wish - I don't need anything else doing apparently. I conceived naturally at christmas after 7 long months of TTC but then had an ectopic. I had the HSG to check for damage/blockages to my tubes. They appear to be clear, but what the HSG can't show is whether the cilia are working to push things down the tubes and into my womb next time. So I've been sent away to try again with the statistics of 10% chance of it happening again. Were your results ok? Whats happening with the clomid, are you not ovulating?
Gangle - the HSG is a catheter which is inserted into your cervix and they push inadine dye through your fallopian tubes under an xray conditions to look for any problems. I'm really not sure about the cough medicine and EPO but the TTC mums on here seem to know all about it. I think you only take it up to ovulation.

PinkElephant · 26/04/2007 19:09

oops sorry 1wish - crossed threads with you

Hi 1wish, how did the hsg go? I remember posting before you went. I'm afraid I was one of the ones with a scary story about how painful it was. I hope yours went ok!! Don't be disappointed if you don't get pg this month, it does happen, but I blubbed like a baby when I didn't get pg the first month. Took another month for that to happen! hehehe!

Good luck for this month xx

PinkElephant · 26/04/2007 19:37

Yes and I was the one who was trying to you it wasn't too painful when in fact I found it bloody agony!! I thought there would be no way you would go if you heard endless horror stories.
MrsMar - Did you get PG the month after? What had happened to you if you don't mind me asking?
1wish - but thats great that they've identified a problem and can do something for you. Did you find the HSG painful and did you make your exam after?

1Wish · 26/04/2007 19:43

It wasn't to painful really, but thanks for preparing me. I must admitt my tummy's abit sore now though.

The doctor said my tubes were fine, I was so shocked i must have asked her if she was joking about 5 times, then she showed me the x-ray and i started crying im just so happy i was sure they'd be blocked.

MrsMar did you have any treatment after the hsg, or did you just fall pregnant naturally?

MrsMar · 28/04/2007 15:41

Hi 1wish, so glad it went well and didn't hurt too much. I didn't realise when I'd had mine that I could get the results straight away, I thought I had to wait for my follow up appointment with the consultant six months later!!! I rang my gp in tears two weeks later and she said "oh no, I've got your results here, everything's fine"!!! I can't believe I was so dumb, I think I was still shocked from the pain! Glad you were able to get your results so quickly.

I didn't have any more treatments after my hsg, I got pg naturally two months after it. I found out the day I was due to have an internal scan to rule out PCOS, I rang up and said I'd had a positive test and they were so sweet, really happy for me and said don't bother coming in!!! I hope you have a similar experience soon too!!

xx

1Wish · 28/04/2007 18:00

MrsMar did you have any symptoms surrounding your infertility, such as irregular cycles or anything?

my1stbaby · 28/04/2007 20:32

hello everyone. can i join you? i'm also ttc this month after a m/c. i'm doing everything; temp, OPK, fertility monitor, cervical mucus, cervix position... took us 8mth for the last pregnancy only to lose it at 12wks. so heartbreaking. think i ovulated last week but not sure as hormone still screwy after m/c. if all goes to plan (fat chance! but fingers x'd) i should be mid cycle 2nd week of May. i've already warned dh to be prepared. he's kind of a bit scared of not being able to perform everyday so no chance doing it 2x a day i think . drinking grapefruit juice (yuk!) but no supplements apart from folic acid from pregnacare. best of luck to all of us. here's to a BFP to all, hip hip hurrah!!!

1Wish · 28/04/2007 21:51

Sorry to hear about your m/c my1stbaby.

Your right about grapefruit juice is horrible!!

What fertility monitor have you got, is it any good?

MrsMar · 29/04/2007 14:54

Hi 1wish, I didn't have anything to indicate any fertility problems other than a failure to conceive. I did have a slightly higher proportion of testosterone than normal (not a higher level, but the ratio was slightly out) which is why they were testing for PCOS (turned out I'm just fat and spotty! Boo!) I'm 36 and I'd been trying for 14 months when I got pg, so my gp did all the usual blood tests after 9 months of trying, and referred me on to the assisted conception unit at the hospital when I'd been trying for a year. That's when I had the hsg.

my1stbaby · 29/04/2007 23:20

hi 1wish splurged out on a clearblue one. can't say whether any good as will try 1st cycle after af which i think will come any day soon as i had a bit of spotting today. can't believe how expensive it all is. you have to buy the sticks for testing as well and they are £20 for 1 box 20 tests and apparently you'll need a full box for 1st cycle. i hope i have all the grounds covered this time!

1Wish · 30/04/2007 12:14

I've just bought a persona off ebay, i didn't realise how expensive the sticks are though, I thought it would be cheaper than buying opk's every month, guess not

Not even sure it'l work cause my cycles are irregular.

Feeling really positive this month which is stupid because i rarely ovulate. I've got my next appointment with the consultant 12th june though, when il be given medication of some description

my1stbaby, how old are you if you don't mind me asking

Beena · 30/04/2007 13:26

We finally stated officially ttc this month (before now we have been unofficially practising ttc as hubby likes to call it)!

I am taking sanatogen pronatal plus which has folic acid and everything in it as well as vit B6 100mg and then EPO 3000mg only up to ov. Have been having a glass of graefruit juice every morning as well.

I have got two questions and would love your help - can I have grapefruit juice every day of my cycle and what is the cough medicine I need? I want to go and get some as have heard good things about it but don't know what to ask the chemist for so that he doesn't think I am completely mad as I don;t have a cough but need it for ttc!

Thanks

Gangle · 30/04/2007 13:26

when is everyone due to ovulate? Just realised that I am due to on Friday (day 14) but will be going away with work very early Thursday am, back Friday evening around 9pm. Do I still have a shot at conceiving if I race home on Friday and BD quick sharp?

OP posts:
scorpio1 · 30/04/2007 13:34

its more important to have sperm there ready and waiting - maybe do it wednesday and just before you go?the egg can live up to 24 hours after ov too, so doing it when you get home wont hurt either!

shanks313 · 30/04/2007 13:41

Hi everyone,

We are starting to TTC no 2 this month.DD1 was born in March.
Yes I know its quick lol but we want to get the sleep deprivation out the way.It took us 3 years to concieve DD so it may take just as long this time and we dont want to wait.

Gangle · 30/04/2007 13:41

thanks Scorpio - was thinking of TTC a boy first time around. Will obviously scrap that plan if nothing happens in a few months as not really that bothered but would like to try to position it the first few months. In that case, should we just try on the Friday do you think?
