hi Atilla,
I know you know your stuff when it comes to ttc and hope you can shed some light on a confusing issue.
I have had conflicting info about day 2 hormone levels. apparently should all be low...fsh, oestradial and lh
my fsh has been consistently elevated for about two years. I know what this means but I am wondering what my other levels signify. My gp said that oestradial should be over 100, consultant says less than 180 is fine but over that is not. Zita wests book says oestradial should be much lower than that.
I have been given my blood results but never really had them explained to me. When my fsh has been high my oestraidal has been low for eg, fsh - 13.9 oesradial - 89 another time, fsh - 12.2 oestradial - 139. my lh has been consistently low at around 4.0
I know my fsh doesn't look good but drs say my oestradial is ok. I'm starting to think its not and should be much lower which means my reduced fertility is affecting my oestradial levels and therefore my fertility is more reduced than I thought
would you happen to know anything about this atilla. I think I am going to write to the clinic also because I paid to find out if anything was wrong and I've not had full answers.

thank you

Sorry I have not seen this before now. You may find this site helpful:-

HTH if you want further information I'll try and find out.

Since coming off the pill last August I have had irregular cycles from about 30-36 days and seem to be ovulating late in the cycle (beyond day 20). I've just had my FSH checked and its 6.3 and my LH is 6.4. Can anyone recommend any other blood tests I should have?

AttilaTheMeerkat · 27/04/2007 16:57

30andready,

Was this result from a day 3 test?.

A day 21 test (if your cycles are irregular I would go by calendar days) could be done to measure progesterone. This would tell whether ovulation has occured or not.

Thank you Atilla. Yes, it was actually a day 2 test. Are those results ok do you think? Thank you very much for responding - I am trying to rule out PCOS.

Hi,

Well your LH is higher than FSH but one test on its own is not fully conclusive. Have you had an internal ultrasound scan done for instance to see what your ovaries look like (i.e to see if there are signs of polycystic ovaries).

I would not rule out PCO yet.

Will the GP refer you to a subfertility unit if this hasn't already happened - I feel you should be referred to such a place as a matter of course.

HTH, any other questions just ask.

Attila

thanks atilla, checked the website you mentioned and learnt that oestradial should be quite low (25-75) and not over 100 as my GP suggested.
