Symptoms in 2WW - Myth or not?

I’ve heard quite a few people say that any symptoms before AF is due are not real pregnancy symptoms, just normal PMS that we get every month and are just hyper aware when TTC. Do you think this is true?

My DS1 was completely unplanned, so I wasn’t at all symptom spotting but I remember feeling crampy from about a week before AF was due and thinking ‘this is really weird that AF is so early. I’m very regular and always get cramps exactly when AF appears. I wore a tampon for a week and was confused every time I went to the loo there was nothing. This is the only time this had ever happened to me. Until this month. I’m TTC no 2 and 10/11DPO, AF is due on Friday and I’ve been feeling crampy since last Saturday. Going to test today.

So back to my question - is this in my mind or not? Scientifically, is it possible to spot pregnancy before missed period without testing?

I think it is, it’s just that there is no way of knowing if it’s caused by pregnancy or AF until you take a pregnancy test. I was convinced I was pregnant last cycle. Sore massive boobs, cramps, tired, late period but then stupid AF showed up 7 days late... I’m going to try not to symptom spot this month as it’s just driving me mad 😂

Depends, symptoms such as nausea are unlikely to be pregnancy related however symptoms such as sore boobs or backache could be pregnancy OR period, only way to know is when you get a bfp or af.

I had very different symptoms to my period symptoms, which is how I knew.

I think until implantation has happened it’s physically impossible to have symptoms, so anything you feel just a few days after ov is probably not pg related. But after implantation I don’t see why not! When I was pg with ds I could tell by my cm that something was up. Normally I totally dry up after ov but had loads of cm right up until my bfp. That was my only sign though, other stuff like cramps and sore boobs etc can be a sign of either af or pregnancy so not much help either way......

I'm TTC #1 and just got a v v v faint positive after 4 months, and honestly this is the first month when I've had zero symptoms. The last three months I had all sorts of cramps, twinges, sickness, headaches, unusual cm etc. But they were nothing to do with pregnancy.

The only thing out of the ordinary this month is that it's taking me ages to shake off a cold.

Yes. They are 100% not pregnancy symptoms. Until the placenta develops at around 4/5 weeks, any symptoms you experience are hormonal. Many women have symptoms in the tww and then turn out to be pregnant but it is purely coincidental.
