Hi everyone, I am 25, married and I do not have any children. I need some help to know when I should be able to take an effective pregnancy test. My problem is that I am on the progesterone only pill so therefore I do not get regular periods. I have forgotten to take my pill of a few occasions (bad I know), but I was so used to having the implant in and not having to worry about taking a tablet every day. On boxing day (12 days ago), I had what I believed to be implantation bleeding (brown discharge / blood which lasted less than a day), and since 28th December (10 days ago) I have been feeling dizzy and extremely nauseous without being sick. Due to this, I have no appetite whatsoever and it is like I have to force myself to eat. I also have started to experience headaches, I have had a migraine (which I never had before in my life) and my love for coffee had suddenly left me. I did a pregnancy test a few days ago and it was negative (I have a feeling it might have been too early to test in any event). Please may someone advise me when I should be able to take a pregnancy test? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Hi @staytay it depends when your period is due. Most say to take it on the first day of your missed period but you can get pregnancy tests that can test up to 6 days before your period due date like a First Respose Early Response (type FRER into Amazon). That's a really good pink line brand, try to avoid the blue line ones as alot of reports and opinions are that they just don't work as well. Good luck hunni. Xxx

If you do test, let me know how you get on!!! I'm due to test on Wednesday unless period appears. 😞xxx

Thank you for the reply @Funkyemzie ! I will order some of those tests from amazon. The trouble I am having is I don't know when my period is due as it has been so irregular. I will let you know how I get on. Good luck, fingers crossed for you xx

You should get a positive pregnancy n a really sensitive test (frer) by about a week after implantation bleeding at the latest. It could have been a breakthrough bleed and side effects of the pop??

Are you still taking the pill? If so the bleeding is more likely to be breakthrough bleeding from a missed pill than implantation bleeding. It would be unusual (but not impossible) to have a negative 12 days after implantation bleeding if you were pregnant as you would now be roughly 20-22dpo. I would suggest test again in a week just to be sure.
