Abroad for IUI - due to fly home tomorrow and haven’t ovulated yet!

I'm in a different country having IUI (long story).

Been meticulously tracking my cycle and flew out here Thursday with the expectation of ovulating pretty soon afterwards.

Well I have had flashing smiley faces (estrogen) for four days now but no sign of a LH surge. I'm on day 18 of my cycle... I was expecting to ovulate around day 15.

I've already extended my trip for another day, WWYD if I'm still flashing tomorrow? Get the IUI anyway? Or have I missed my window?

May as well get it tomorrow anyway - Or maybe I don’t really understand the science...what does the clinic suggest?

perfectly · 07/01/2018 14:41

The clinic said wait for the LH surge... which means taking more time off work and feels like I'm leaving it very late in my cycle.

I'm confused - having the procedure will cost approx £1k so not sure whether to cut my losses and not bother if I don't have a LH surge or to try anyway or to wait and see.

Can you stay an extra day or two and wait for the surge?

Onetwothree2018 · 07/01/2018 15:15

Can you ask on the infertility board? There might be more members who understand this a bit more but if it was me I would be inclined to stay and wait for the surge 😊

physicskate · 07/01/2018 15:21

Why don't they give you a trigger shot??? Doing it today would make an iui tomorrow perfect timing.

perfectly · 07/01/2018 15:29

Physicskate I just called to ask about this trigger shot but they have closed now Sad

Still got a flashing smiley...

I guess I will have to stay yet another night if it's still flashing tomorrow.

Trigger tomorrow and do it the following day??

Best of luck! It's probably stress that has delayed ov...

Onetwothree2018 · 07/01/2018 15:45

Yeah apparently stress and travelling can delay ovulation. Let us know how you get in tomorrow xxx

perfectly · 07/01/2018 15:52

Thanks both! For the sake of another flight and two more days off work it's probably worth it - well it will definitely be if I get pregnant!

I got my LH surge tonight - phew! So can book the IUI for tomorrow then go straight to the airport, would be nice to chill afterwards but I can relax on the plane.
