Would you go to a spa if you might be pregnant?

I am booked in for a pricey spa day with a group (pre-paid for lots of treatments) for a birthday event on the same weekend AF is due.

Has just occurred to me that the treatments and most of the spa activities state not suitable for those less than 12 weeks pregnant.

Highly unlikely I'll get a BFP on first month of trying - but if I did, would it be really daft to go anyway?

Cross that bridge if and when you come to it. But yes, if you are pregnant, you'll have to skip things like saunas and some of the massages

I went to a spa when I was pregnant and booked before hand. I just called them and they changed the massage to a pregnancy massage. That way I could have the massage but I wasn’t lying on my front

I went to a spa when pregnant. I just chose what I did carefully. I also had reiki when pregnant. The practitioner said they could feel the most amazing energy over my womb.

They may allow changes to treatments if you call and explain, but IME the 'pregnancy massages' are still only for >12 weeks, in the UK anyway. You'll probably be able to get a pedi/mani, facial etc.

No sauna. No jacuzzi.

I went to spas when pregnant. In Europe they were happy to massage etc, but were careful about certain points and oils. In the UK they wouldn't until I was 12 weeks.

I did, was on a hen do. Had a thoroughly good time, had all treatments and got completely trashed on the evenings. And I'm bloody glad I did as I had to abstain from it all for the next 8.5 months!

My DSM booked us and SIL in for The Sanctuary for a day when I was 10 weeks and I didn’t want to tell her so I just chose things like manicure pedicure and facial treatments that were safe.

Hmmm good question op.
What about the hot tubs and steam rooms everyone? What are your thoughts on that if in the 2ww?

Out of interest, why are most spa treatments not suitable in pregnancy? Do they increase risk of birth defects/miscarriage?

As long as you’re careful about the types of essential oils they use them you should be fine.

I went in the jacuzzi and steam room when pregnant. It’s about not raising your core body temp to levels that are dangerous. So I would sit i the jacuzzi for a little while and then sit on the side with just my legs in to cool off a bit.
